Network Centric Warfare | A New dimension for Pakistan Defense Forces.

Soon, entire Pakistan Army will achive Net Enabled Capability (NEC), as of today, only the Stryker Brigades of the US are a truley Net Centric forces. For the difference, please use google. Tht's the max i can tell you guys. BTW, i know the author :)

esi baat ka tou roona hai lala....our Generals are not Einstein / newton type of guys, they lack the technical knowledge hence the slow progress.....

Which should actually be a serious security concern. We will accumulate large amounts of intelligence data. The senior members of the military don't know enough about computing to be security conscious. Humans are usually the weakest link in any security.

Our intelligence forces need to look to the future as well. We need to develop indigenous software for data mining, pattern recognition and battle simulations. With the right software tools, we can be better alerted to future threats and current threats.

The larger gap? Is interoperability issue. Our Naval fleet is of chinese origin. F-16 are americans. here comes the issue of connecting both assets.
The interop issue is not that complex. The comms are all based on Mil-Std-1553. So you end up having a common terminal to relay the information to and from. All Chinese hardware, for marketing and overseas selling reasons comes with conformance to this standard thus making interop with Western hardware somewhat straightforward.

After reading all the discussion i came to realize the level which Pak Armed Forces are working on. I belive the main short coming is the funding required for improvement in this system. How could we have a complete system without $$?
Also can any senior person define the 'misuse' of this system after infiltration? Like we have a network centric system where everything is connected and being shown at some place. Someone enter the system and hide/show false information or deployment of forces, it would be disastrous! I hope my question is understandable :D

Our Nukes were about to be compromised when cyber attack on GHQ servers were made last year. The intruder can take all army secrets, battle planes, assets, people info's, finances, secret programs

do you realize that india is scanning china in real time too and china, russia is scanning USA in real time.... and india is more advanced than china in spy satellites. india have 4 spy satellites with with resolution less than 1 metre in service. and one with 25 cm resolution is going to be in service soon. besides this, india have 2 satellites with SAR in service dedicated for recon. and a dedicated spy satellite is under development...

Do I realize it? Yes. That is why I asked the question to begin with. Thank you for giving me the details I was looking for. However, I disagree with you entirely on the fact that "India is more advanced than China in spy satellites". 4-6 or 10 satellites don't make you advanced. There is an entire Space Management System that comes into play. India is about 15 years before that. Europe is about 5-7 years out (granted they don't want a system as large any ways). US is of course probably 15 years ahead of the time and the closer match is Russia with about 5 years behind and China behind Russia (8 years would be a good guess?). But from all the trailing countries....the Chinese are reducing this gap faster than anyone, that's for sure.

The article is at least 3 years old if I am not mistaken.

We cannot have strong internet defense until and unless we introduce civil talents. There are people of my age who can create havoc among top websites (facebook/yahoo/google etc). Even many are used by these big companies to test their defenses. I hope Pak forces are utilizing local talent to their maximum potential.
Also sensitive information should not be connected to internet and should be made in case of ardent requirement or at the time of implementation. This can ensure good soft security. Btw im not much good with softwares and NCW but can understand the magnitude of work being done and required. And maximum i can do is to pray and have faith on Allah and after that on our armed forces for best for Us! :pakistan:

A big misunderstanding here..

Project JTRS was cancelled back in 2011. All 28 NATO members are going to replace Link 11 with the new Link 22 commonly known as NILE. It's under development by 9 nations. To be integrated within the Smart Defence Concept.

@Aeronaut Turkey's next generation C4ISR wil be the Link 22 within complement of Link 16. Not sure Pakistan could get it but if I am not mistaken Aselsan also has been working on a national system.

Looks good, how many pics did you use for it?

Your watermark is ridiculously big in the middle.

F16s and his CF-Tanks and Sniper pod include PAF skew logo (not visible) Only F16 made with the help of 5 images lol... so if F16 consider single image similarly all than that banner made with the help of 9 images lol

The watermark is large because it will use officially on iFW web :)

If you read the thesis above - it states that one of the requirements for NCW is the Culture adoption, , and for Cultural change, that has to come from the top, if Top Leadership is showing least interest in the subject then it will be hard to achieve the target.

Our current need of the hour is Satellite Communication ( SAT) , Supercomputer for all the processing and Hardware Firewalls, only then we can thin about going online.....Currently there is very strict rule of making any PC Online, everything must and has to stay offline.....

( i better shut up now :D )

because our Firewall is not capable enough...right ?
