Their biggest failure was the failure to see that invading a land and forcing the people who now lived there out would have long-term consequences.

No they knew what would happen. But they also know that if they do kick them out no one would do anything about it. It was evident from when the holy land was split into two. The Jews were given more land and more fertile land than the arabs even when they weren't even close to 50% of the population.

I see striking similarities between Israeli right wing headed by Netanyahu and Indian right wing headed by Modi. Both blame Muslim leaders of the past for all the problems their people are facing today. Both are heading fast forward into the hall of fame for publicly elected trolls.

And both are becoming ever more steadfast allies of one another. Ominous!
