Very well said. This is the sad conclusion most have come to.
Although, a union between blocs, regions and countries is a good thing. Especially if trade binds countries and regions. Fauji has a point that a proper well organized bloc is the way forward. Even a military one.
An economic bloc would, in my professional point of view, would and should be pursued by Pakistan. Pakistan should learn from Japan and Turkey in regards to foreign affairs strategy: focus is on regional pragmatism , taking no sides in any conflict.
Pakistan does not need to join any so called "military bloc" because Pakistan is already a military power in her own right, Pakistan is a nuclear armed power and could vaporize any nation that is within her nuclear reach. Pakistan will never be invaded by an army, period.
What does Pakistan gain in joining a military block with nations in the Gulf? Can we honestly say that these states will come to the aid of Pakistan in the event of war? Honestly? Of course not; the GCC nations have diminutive militaries (with the exception of KSA) compared to Pakistan Armed Forces and such a bloc would most likely try to benefit from Pakistan's massive Armed Forces. Again let me reiterate the theme of my post, which is -- the rhetorical question , "How Does Pakistan Benefit from this military bloc?"
This military bloc is unidirectional. No. Pakistani blood and the blood of her noble soldiers should not be sent to bleed for foreign states and foreign people. Militarily Pakistan should solidify her position in South and Southwest Asia. Economically she should expand liberally with all relevant states and do so pragmatically.
Pakistan answers to no power. Not to the KSA, UAE, USA, etc. Answer only to God and country.
Pakistan is a giant of 180 million. Engaging in proxy wars of diminutive states half the world away is beneath Pakistan Military.
