NDTV.com Exclusive: Did India Consider Nuclear Option During Kargil War?

This article clearly says everyone when war there will be diplomatic movement/operation on their part.

This article says US tried to talk to pakistan but they did not listen. At the end of the article when Inida fireballs Pakistan Military in Tiger Hill - that's when Nawaz Sharif packed to US.

This really tells India winning with major hit and pakistan suffers.
don't get too carried away.

What I get from the article it is USA who diplomatically pressure Pakistan to withdraw and the Indian claims of victory just bogus and pompous in nature.
According to the white paper produced by your own government, 3000 Pakistani soldiers were killed in the Kargil conflict. After your logistics node of Manthodalo was completely destroyed by the IAF, the Pak Army could not supply your troops in Kargil. They ran out of ammo, food, water, spares etc and were up crap creek without a paddle! Without sound logistics, you cannot win a war!

And some of you say you won the war and others say that you withdrew due to pressure from the Americans? NO! the Indians forced you to run to due to your positions becoming untenable because of the onslaught by the IAF and the IA! Period!

You can use better words to explain your point of view and Please behave your self. Why not India launch attack after Mumbai terror attack ? Fear yep India militery is bunch of cowards ?

You made an observation without thinking. I made an observation after thinking.

On the attack front, unlike certain banana republics and US stooges, we use our brains first. Why would the Indian military be scared of a country which takes orders from a foreign power. By the way, this is as per your conclusion.

Piece of advice. Let this discussion rest.

That were Indians running like headless chicken calling each and every one dekho maar dala, koi Pakistan ko samjhao.

Here is what your army has done till date

GrandSlam to PantSlam
Gibralter to Lagi jorkar
Kargil to Pantfatigil

Indian operations
Siachen
Bangladesh

Agli baar, beta US stooge math banana.

Never mind, Pakistani soldiers born not to serve their country but to their foolish army generals/dictators, who just for fun send them at/across the border in/without uniform to get slaughtered and what does they achieve is life of our army soldiers. Their life is worthless in the eyes of these brave generals. It's pure madness

But then they realized that there is only 1 Hindu majority country in the world & backed off. :D

We have no first use policy. Using Nuke in preemptive
The kargil war plan was brilliant, the execution of the plan was pathetic.

When you do not have the capability to execute the plan, How that plan can be brilliant? Do you want to have a plan of America's capability? Pakistani army had no strength to stand against India so they were kicked out inspite of occupying strategic positions. . It is as simple as this.

But then they realized that there is only 1 Hindu majority country in the world & backed off. :D

they have realized this 4 time since 1947.

The Pakistanis had the capability you fool. India was losing the war very badly in the first month. Only after air strikes were launched did the tide of war change. The Pakistanis were demoralised as their supply routes were cut, they had no air support and their leaders and generals abandoned them half-way.

So in the end, basically india's no first use policy is just a hoax.

Yeah It is - Shiver me timbers!

You gotta understand - NFU is a diplomatic tool to be used in peace and discarded in war time.

The only scenario I can envision NFU would hold is that when India is sure that the first nuclear use would be a tactical one but that is unlikely because a tactical use by Pakistan would invite retaliatory strategic strike on Pakistan and Pakistan knowing this would go for a Strategic Strike first and India knowing this would preempt it with a strategic strike.

So you see NFU is not worth the paper it is written on

Practically, even you have the capability to ride a lion. Afterall its not very tall BUT can you do it in real??

So.. Dont brag about your capability.

Unlikely that India would have gone nuclear first, good bluff though. However what was guaranteed was that India would have widened the war if they didn't meet with success in Kargil. Thankfully, Tololing fell to Indian hands when it did and the Indian army confident that it had turned the tide focused on vacating the intrusion. Post the fall of Tololing, Pakistani positions fell rapidly & by the time Tiger Hill fell, they knew the ghost was up. Sharif went/ was sent only when the PA came to the realisation that its positions were untenable & humiliation guaranteed. They did try to avert it by trying to get some sort of a deal with the U.S. where they could claim some victory. Clinton didn't oblige and the game was over.

Practically, even you have the capability to ride a lion. Afterall its not very tall BUT can you do it in real??.

NFU is reserved for non nuclear (weapon) countries, not otherwise.

The Indian nuclear doctrine also reflects this strategic culture, with its emphasis on minimal deterrence, no first use against non-nuclear weapon states and its direct linkage to nuclear disarmament.

Its Music to my ears, If its true India should not have no first use policy. Still there nowhere mentioned. Its one Interpretation. It could also mean use of Chemical or Biological weapons or attacking pakistan from International border.
Using Nuclear in this circum. is literally mad and those rats dosent deserve this.
