I will check out the video later. However, I will say this - Earlier I used to think that the Naxal movement in India was a minor irritant to the state. I now realize that, if we do not find long term economic and political solution to the issue, we will have a significant problem in ten years or so.

But their demands are just and not calling for separation or independent but only want their rights.

While they have genuine grievances their method is wrong, violence is not the way. Thats why GoI has to take a two pronged approach of combating hardcore terrorists and creating development and rehabilitating the locals.

The same was needed in the NE and Kashmir but because of heavy handedness and one track mind of the then GoI things went to a worse situation. Now with their experiences in those areas, I would expect the GoI to be able to tackle this in a more mature manner

They were operating seperately within states earlier but after AndhraPradesh's govt tried to negotiate with them; they used the oppurtunity to unite with bihar and other area's naxalites to form bigger group.

recently Home minister chidambaram said govt is ready to talk with them only if the leave their weapons. but they are not ready for that. so central govt started a fullscale offensive against them.

If The Indian Government accepts their demands which about 90% are justified and Not against Indian state , then isnt it better than giving them chance to take up arms?

^^But there are thos who take violence and kill civilians, they can't be left freely. GoI has already given an unconditional surrender option to them. About 100 000 cases against the tribals have been revoked as a good will measure. Its upto them now to respond really

many of them committed crimes like murders. but I dont think they are ready to face the trial.

I haven't heard of Indian Operation on Naxals. Is that being planned or media has no access to areas where this operation is being carried out?

Those should be put on trial. Simple as that.

Other justified demands which do not damage the soverignty of India should be acceped by Indian govt

This Maoist movement in India isnt even close as the size as the Chinese Maoist movement in the past.

The map posted above is too old. At present there are no naxalite movements in the south India. Andhra pradesh has successfully engaged and removed them from the state. Now they operate in Orissa. The telangana cause is giving them an excuse to come into but state government is acting quickyl on that too.

AP has been the only state which have solved successfully the naxalite problem. It used blackcat commandos for people who don't leave the weapons and financial aid/rehabilitation for people who leave the weapons. Also, it has started different development programs in the rural areas to cutoff any new people joining such things.

Indian GoI should take AP as an example and try to implement this type of approach. At present, I don't see any big news on people getting rehabilitation support. Indian GoI should encourage such things and publicize so that people get to know abt it and would choose that way rather than dying with arms.
