PLANDRI (Azad Kashmir): Pakistan Muslim League-N chief Mian Nawaz Sharif has said that guard of honour should not be given to people who abrogate the Constitution and the hands of law-breakers should be broken.
Speaking at a public meeting here on Wednesday, he said the Constitution had been used by dictators for personal interests and sometimes parliament and courts empowered them to make or break the Constitution. It is tyrannical, he added.
Without referring to President Asif Ali Zardari, the PML-N chief said that suicide attacks and terrorist activities were taking place in the country because of continuation of one-man policy.
Pakistans borders are being violated and US drones fly from inside the country and launch attacks, but the government is deceiving people. Hypocrisy is rampant, he said, adding: The government winks at the US after every drone attack.
Mr Sharif said: We talk of reforming the country and protecting its future. We heard the taunts of friendly opposition and tolerated them for the sake of the country. We have supported the government for three years with the hope that fate of the country will change.
He said corruption was rampant and the rulers were inducting into government institutions their friends who plundering the country with both hands. The government had extended begging bowl to the world, he said, adding that corruption cost the nation Rs500-700 billion.
Today petrol is not available at petrol pumps. Diesel is not provided to farmers. Electricity is nowhere in the country. People are protesting against loadshedding and price hike, but the rulers have become heedless to the protests. What is the use of this government which has failed to address peoples problems over the past three years, he said.
Mr Sharif said prosperity should have come in the country following the detonation of nuclear bombs, but people were worst hit by inflation.
Economy is on the brink of collapse and wealth is concentrated in a few hands. Pakistan stands isolated in the comity of
nations. No country, except China and Saudi Arabia, stands with Pakistan. Half of the world was with Pakistan when we conducted nuclear tests, he said.
How can Pakistan make progress when incidents like the Abbottabad raid, attacks on the PNS Mehran base, Kharootabad and killings of people at the hands of Rangers take place.Online
