Naval Blockade of Pakistan

Which is why I seriously doubt that PN is going to employ its subs in a defensive role.
They can always look for fireworks in Mumbai.
A stray missile or two from a PN boat can set fire to those oil platforms and stuff near Bombay.
Exactly! PN Subs loitering near Mumbai would make the IN uneasy. They will have to redirect more of their ships to protect Mumbai.

He was talking about if how would Stealth frigates will do against the patrol boats? Against this idea?

Such a sneak attack by small fast attack boats is possible and can succeed in a non-AWACS environment. That is how the IN OSA class missile boats got so close to Karachi in Dec 1971. The key would be in identifying the threat of an advancing fleet, and identifying the right moment to launch its fast attack boats (for this to succeed combined air-sea co-ordination will be required and exercised).

But with the induction of cruise missiles things get more complicated. Ship launched and air launched missiles offer different challenges that the PN will have to encounter.

The prime weapon in the PN arsenal for coastal defence are their submarines. If they are well utilised then they can make things very difficult for the IN.

Even in the present scenario, those four subs arent going to stop a co-ordinated IN attack on Karachi or Gwadar. They dont have anything to loose. So its only prudent to position them somewhere near the Mumbai harbor. This would force the IN to take Mumbai's safety into account while planning any offensive manouvers.

r u guys interested in acquire a few nuclear attack submarines??? :?: (if tat way then pakistan navy force would have a greater adbvantage over indian submarine forces.......)

Sonething in the line of that is suppose to be under construction called ATV.and also there where uncofirmed reports of IN planning to lease out some russian n submarines.

Correct,
The 10mw ATV is already being tested and will power the nuke submarine in future.

The miniature reactor's capability is about 100 MWe and the fuel is highly enriched uranium, supplied by the Rare Materials Project (RMP) at Ratnahalli, near Mysore.

Dude, this could be real bad for China!
Please elaborate you enthousiasm.

Unless you're happy that this evolution would expedite the development of chinese nuclear subs...

Buddy,

To my restricted knowledge the capability is never tested to the maximum due technical problems.
Are you sure about the full capacity?

Neo,
This Russian website claims that....

According to Russky Telegraph, the hulls of the submarines laid down in India are almost blueprints of the newest Russian attack submarine, the Severodvinsk-class, which is currently under construction in Severodvinsk, Arkhangel'sk County. Indian submarines reportedly will be outfitted with one PWR reactor with a power output of 190 MW. The same machinery is placed on the Severodvinsk-class submarine. http://www.bellona.no/en/international/rus...ssels/9518.html

But this Indian daily claims that.....

India's efforts to build a nuclear-powered submarine crossed a major milestone when the project's land-based reactor became fully operational in December 2004 at Kalpakkam, near here. The reactor reached criticality by October last year.

The miniature reactor's capability is about 100 MWe and the fuel is highly enriched uranium, supplied by the Rare Materials Project (RMP) at Ratnahalli, near Mysore.
http://www.thehindu.com/2005/11/25/stories...12502201400.htm

I am guessing that the Indian daily is a bit closer to the truth, since it is possible that in their efforts to miniaturize the nuclear reactors, they might have cut down its capabilities from 190 MW to 100 MW. And the reactor reached criticality by Oct 2004 and was fully operational by Dec 2004.

y would it be bad??? pakistan wont attack china or anyting(very unlikely)....... and they didnt even plan to build one yet......... (i think they will in 2015 or so)
plus china is most advanced nation in nuclear submarine development in asia.......
