Nato supplies breakthrough US to officially apologise for Salala, Pakistan

In my view, the peace and security of our region will increase if the NATO supply routes through Pakistan stay closed .

A supply of goods through Russia/CAR will limit the US/NATO ambitions in the area. Russia will allow a calculated supply to the Afghanistan and will be able to give it a squeeze if US/NATO try to create more mischief in the region.

It's a balance of power which is badly needed.

Putin seems to have same doctrine as Musharraf's, let the Superpower bleed to it's death in ******* mess; a grave that it dug for itself.

I will wait for official announcement, the deal seems reasonable.

Apologies are not bad it helps keep the relationship, I feel it was due.

No wonder Americans are such great diplomats when it comes to Pakistan

1. They kill 26 Pakistani soldiers
2. They daily attack Pakistani soil with air borne drones
3. They openly & officially call Pakistan a supporter/sponsor of terrorism
4. They get Pakistani citizens feel happy on a rumor that one of their low ranking official will apologize for point 1

:D
5) Or just accept dossier form the other side and wipe your A$$ with it.

ISLAMABAD: In a bid to reopen suspended Nato supply routes through the country, Pakistan and the United States are due to launch “hot talks” this week following which Islamabad and Washington will issue a joint-statement.

It has been agreed that the United States will officially apologise for last year’s Salala check-post attack, and will pay a tariff (fee) for each container in exchange for the opening of the supply line.

According to diplomatic and military sources, a senior United States official — on behalf of US President Barack Obama — will apologise publicly for martyring 26 Pakistani soldiers in the Salala attack.

It has also been secretly agreed that there will be a red line and mechanism for launching drone attacks on terrorist havens in Fata and North Waziristan. Furthermore, the United States will pay a $2,000 tariff to Pakistan for safe passage of Nato containers.

According to sources, there is also a likelihood that compensation will be paid to the heirs of the martyred soldiers on behalf of Washington, and the exact figure of this amount will be agreed within a few days.

Sources said the secret talks, which have been underway for several weeks between diplomatic and military channels of both countries, have proved meaningful. It was also said that the announcement of the Pak-US agreement would be made mid June, following which Pakistan will reopen the supply lines.

figment of someone's imagination. - the 2 countries are 'poles' apart (unfortunately). if the US does what this article suggests, it will be a massive climbdown by the US. it would be an 'embarrassment' for the US admin in an election year. and what does PK give in return - open the GLOC.!!!

Apology is long due, Its good to see Pakistan stood for something and may get what she demanded.

As far as if alleged complicity was the reason they attacked PA post then one should answer complicity by complicity not by official military action in this interesting US Pakistan relationship. It should be a good learning for USA and NATO.

At the end of the day Pakistan's stand irrespective of any good or bad power play running in background; full of drama, accusations, betrayal, bad blood, anxiety etc. has been vindicated with something they can build upon now as afresh especially on the ties with her partners of WOT and on propaganda front with critics and adversities.

USA's failed/childish diplomacy and garbage threatening talk has angered most Pakistanis already and even if the supply routes open the safety of passage cannot be guaranteed.

I think Pakistan will bend it knees as it desperately need money.... Politician need to update their bank account as Election is approaching.....

Pakistan will scum to US pressure as it did before.:D

The fact of the matter is that the government of Pakistan decided to review the terms of our partnership after the Salala incident. We fully respected Pakistan’s decision, and the proof lies in the fact that it’s been over six months since the Pakistani government decided to close the NATO supply route through Pakistan. The idea of the U.S. pressuring Pakistan holds no ground when you think about how much time has passed since the closing of the NATO supply route. There is no doubt that our governments have held several meetings in hope of finding a resolution. At the end of the day, we simply cannot ignore the importance of both nations working together to combat terrorism. It is easy for many to be critical of our partnership, but we must appreciate the fact that our nations have not given up on finding a resolution, and continue to keep our common objectives in mind. We remain hopeful regarding the future of our partnership, and wish to see both nations working together for the betterment of the region.

Breaking News.

WASHINGTON: The United States is withdrawing its team of negotiators from Pakistan without securing a long-sought deal with Islamabad to allow trucks to again supply Nato troops in neighboring Afghanistan, the Pentagon said on Monday.

“I believe that some of the team left over the weekend and the remainder of the team will leave shortly,” George Little, a Pentagon spokesman, told reporters. “This was a US decision.”

I am afraid nothing like this is about to happen. They have packed their bags and gone home. No route opening deal happening this month.
