Regarding defeating Taliban (irrespective of nation which they may represent), it can't be achieved by mere military power, rather a radical change in the education and thought process within Afghanistan should be brought about and implemented, which keep religion secondary to modern education. If the present Afghan government with the help of their friends achieve in doing that successfully, you will surely see the Taliban loosing a war in a decade or two, that too without too much violence. Going forward, a nationalist Afghanistan will be the best than a religious Afghanistan and I'm sure India can help a lot to achieve that.

Ok. Your definitions and my definitions are not the same. Fair enough-Afghanistan is tribal. Just replace tribal with national then. You cannot educate nationalism into them. You can try of course like Bharat has been doing but it will fail.

Cannot ??? I'm afraid nothing is impossible if enough dedication and effort is put into it. Just have a look what was Afghanistan before 1979 ?? A liberal society with modern/western cultural outlook, and how it became a self-centered radically closed society (especially during the period of Taliban). If this can be achieved through persistent teaching/brainwashing the opposite can also be achieved, how much you may differ.
