Pakistanis, Kashmiris observe Solidarity Day today

Islamabad—Pakistani nation and the people of Jammu & Kashmir, across the world will join hands today February-5, to support just struggle of the Kashmiris against atrocities being committed by the Indian occupational forces and for exercise their right to self-determination.

Several Social, Political and Human Rights organizations arranged elaborate programmes to re-pledge solidarity with the people of occupied Jammu & Kashmir.

It is official holiday throughout Pakistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir to stress call to the United Nations and peace-loving nations to arrange an early impartial plebiscite in Kashmir for an amicable settlement of the dispute.

The day will dawn with special prayers in the mosques at Namaz-a-Fajr coupled with the offering of Fateha for the martyrs of Kashmir and for the early success of Kashmir liberation movement. A one-minute silence will be observed all across Pakistan and in Azad Jammu and Kashmir to pay homage to Kashmir martyrs at 10 a.m.

Exhibitions will be held where selected UN resolutions on Kashmir, will be displayed in original.

Walks will be held at provincial and district headquarters, which will be led by Governors, Chief Ministers and District Nazims. Human chains on bridges that connect Pakistan with Azad Jammu & Kashmir will be silent features on the occasion.

The AJK President and Prime Minister will visit the Kashmir refugee camps to share their miseries and grief. Food packets and gifts will also be distributed among the refugees.

Joint Session

Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly and its Upper House will hold a joint session in Muzaffarabad to pay tributes to the people of Kashmir.

Pakistan Foreign Missions will hold special functions to highlight the prevailing situation in held Kashmir and screen documentaries portraying the Indian atrocities in Kashmir to invite the world attention on continued massive human rights violations by the Indian troops in held Kashmir.

Pakistan TV and Radio as well as all three Radio stations of Azad Jammu Kashmir will air special programmes to highlight the historical events on Kashmir. Pakistan National Council of the Arts will hold an arts bazaar, to feature an exhibition of valuable Documents and photographs on Kashmir.
