Bright lights in coastal China, Taiwan, South Korea and Japan.

Medium intensity lights in central China.

Elsewhere, it is still pretty dark.

When the OBOR is in place, we would expect NW China and the central Asia to be brighter.

These two maps indicate two things.

1. In comparison to China, electricity distribution looks to be fairly even across the country. China looks to be heavily concentrated along its sea belt. I understand that may be because of Tibetan Plateau which is not an easy place to do electrification.

2. Pakistan is electrified only along the Indus river & Punjab area. Rest is all dark.

population density is also a factor.

Tibet has 3 million people, and that land area is as large as western europe.
Makes no sense for it to have as much light.

NK has light in only one city.

The natural boundaries Himalayas of Sub Continent are marking from Afghanistan to Myanmar.
