Narrowing PAF Gap V IAF by 2015

yar if tejas are that much super duper air craft then why u guys wasting money on mrca program why dnt u make tejas more deadly air craft :undecided:

Because tejas has been designed for the role of Interceptor not Air Superiority, For Air Superiority India is Going Ahead with Tejas MK2 and AMCA..... Hope this clears Your Doubt

1.Which F-16? Sheer common sense (by virtue of 25+ years of advancements in commercial aeronautical technology) suggests that the JF-17's electronics/avionics, ECM/EW & radar are superior to the Block-15 F-16s. The current Block-I, the JF-17's radar is at most 15km less in range than that of the MiG-29SMT.

2.It hasn't signed anything because it is PAC which is developing the avionics for JF-17. The issue is radar and maybe ECM/EW, but even then there has been approach for joint-development and local production for such a suite. Same for radar.

3.It has already tested SD-10 and will be certified for use by the end of this year. The MICA-RF is next on the list, either for PAF and/or export purposes. Beyond these types, it would depend on the export client as well as whats available to PAF in the future. Should the A-Darter 5th generation WVR-AAM deal go through with Brazil/South Africa, then we could expect T-Darter (currently in-development) to join. If not, then next-generation Chinese options would be available.

4.The basic line of weaponry, including SD-10 BVR as well as PL-9C and PL-5IIE have already been tested, the SD-10 awaits final certification. Principle A2G weapons have already been integrated, such as Chinese laser and precision-guided bombs. The next batch of weapons will include Pakistani precision guided stand-off munitions, the Brazilian MAR-1 ARM, and later on a variant of Ra'ad ALCM.

5.ROSE-I uses Grifo-M, which allows it use BVRAAM. Depending on necessity, the PAF can integrate the SD-10 onto the aircraft. However, its been repeatedly reported - including publications such as Flight International - that Mirage ROSE-I can use R-Darter, and the missile is in PAF inventory (though not officially disclosed).

1. How much India and Pakistan lack in terms of technology when compared to the US is a matter of debate but my guess would be 20-50 years. Keeping that in perspective and the fact that there havent been any contracts for the avionics and weapons delivery suites shouldn't be putting my estimate of the PRESENT JF-17 being simillar to the F-16 C/D at max.

2. Lets not fool ourselves here. Do you really think PAC can develop those systems? Given the levels of incompetence and corruptions that run deep in the heart of your and my country I am quite sure that these so called suites wont be delivered on time and also wont be able to match the performance. I guess it will take a substantial time ( 5 years or so) for any radar or ECM to mature and be effective under various different mission requirements . I can bet my bottom ruppee that if PAC has to develop a mission capable radar comparable to what Russia or US has then it will take more than a decade with the outside help. Without any outside help, I dont think it will be possible even in two decades.

3. Post here when the confirmation is received and everything. I am debating about the As-Is state of JF-17 not what it will be(majorly because I dont have much hopes on the outdates air-frame of the aircraft).

4. Thanks for the info. May I ask the ranges of those weapons when compared to the missiles carried by the Mig-29 and Su-30 MKI.

5. I see serious reliability issues with the Rose platform. Being capable doesnt mean that you will perform a task reliabily always. Rose is badly outdated and I dont know how people can trust such a platform to perform a multi-role mission.

The LCA programme was launched in 1983 for two primary purposes.

The principal and most obvious goal was the development of a replacement aircraft for India’s old and crash prone MiG-21

Second objective of LCA programme’s was to serve as the vehicle for an across-the-board advancement of India’s domestic aerospace industry.

On both these counts, the Tejas has been a colossal failure. The Tejas has been unable to replace the “Flying Coffins” which are still flying and the Tejas has been unable to create a domestic aircraft industry.

The MRCA tender for $10 Billion for planes is a testimonial to the abject failure of the Tejas. :cheesy:

A failed aircraft to begin with and a failure to end with. :lazy:

LONG LIVE TEJAS

not that JF17 is useless or anything, but it just doesnt fit well enough to counter pakistan's external perceived threat(india).

here is a neutral opinion

Tempered Insanity: The FC-1 -or- A Tale Of An Inferior Fighter Plane (Part 1)

Tempered Insanity: The FC-1 -or- A Tale Of An Inferior Fighter Plane (Part 2)

we had a lot of discussion on this in past....hahaha...this guy even doesn't know about Chinese WS-13 and calls its an illegal copy of RD-93  not to mention RCS optimization of MKI (which "still" ended at 15Mm2).....:lol:

Everyone knows how capable theit goverments are so i have faith in the road map set by GOI for modernisation of IAF by 2015.One should never be too concerned about its neighbour if you on the right track.

Did You Ever think of Constant Change in IAF's Expectations??? Eventually IAF wanted it to replace The Mig 21's, then IAF wanted LCA tejas Flight controls to be better than Mirage, Then IAF wanted Wanted More Powerful Engines for LCA tejas, and Hence it had To undergo Sevaral Design changes Includes Its Air Intakes, Initially LCA was designed with canards and a more traditional delta wing with very little fuselage blending, the mastering of the Tejas's cranked delta and its complementary fuselage design has enabled super-maneuverability making canards useless in the final LCA design. The lack of canards also improves its RCS.

Subsequently this Fighter evolved from what it was expect to do, Thanks to IAF and Now IAF is Happy with this Aircraft, and Has Issued Spec for LCA MK2

Started in 1983 and its 2010 and still going on. Some say its gonna ops in 2010 and some say in 2011 and some in 2015. :cheesy:

So basically no one knows in India that when it will be ops : so typical.

No aircraft in the history of military jet has taken 30 years to become ops.

The award for the most slowest progressed , mismanaged and already obselete aircraft goes to

TEJAS :cheers::cheers::cheers::partay::partay::partay:

Guys can someone tell me annual production rate of jf17 at present and the projected rate in future?
@indian members-does anyone know when the production of mmrca will start and estimated numbers by 2015?

Did You ever Know an Aircraft called Rafele, Produced by the Masters of Delta wing took 30+ Years..... a Project Initiated in 1970 was Rafale, ring any Bells???? Making aircraft is Not Easy For the rest of the world, Like it is for Pakistan.... And Tejas has not taken 30 Years, It has taken 27 Years.... Very Less Time I must say

Indians ki dukhti rag pe haath rakh dia

This thread is now PAF vs IAf and JF-17 vs Tejas.

Jf17 is our majburi and yet Indians go on to make hugeee efforts to block its avionics and engine.

Hey Rafay............your brother Big Mac hv no answer to my post. Do you hv any.............

Yeh yeh , we have our own majboris.

Yes........it is your majboori. Otherwise, there are no planes for you. Either they are very costly for you or simply not avaliable to you becasue of relations................. ;)

But what is your majbori for hanging to the failed horse Tejas project for freakin more then 25 years ? :azn: :mod:

Just damn get rid of that ugly looking obselte aircraft. Whats your majbori dude

There is no majboori with India. You know, when somebody has his/her pockets filled with money, there can't be majbooris. Ever heard: Customer is King; coz he got the money. And India got the money.

As far as LCA is concerned............its our try to make an Indigenous Fighter Plane. It took 25 years............No issues. It will take 25 more years, no problems at all. We are not dependent upon LCA for our Air Force's survivability like Pakistan is on JF-17. We have many more.
