Narendra Modi's Foreign Policy Year in Review, Part 1

If history is anything to go by India has never been a country for more than 100 years. One way or the other it has been ruled by others, the mughals, the British are few of the examples. History may repeat itself soon.

That same logic, if applicable to India today, would seamlessly apply to Pakistan as well - since Pakistan was India until very recently by the "historic" standards that you mentioned.

Anyway, the problem with Kashmir (unfortunately for both India and Pakistan) is that it is the lynch pin (or safety pin, if you will) holding Indian Nation's fabric together.

India doesn't care about the landmass or the resources that Kashmir provides as much as it does for denying any further divisions based on religion, language, ethnicity et al. That's why India will never let go of Kashmir (or what is left of it) out of free will and will throw everything she has got, in defense of her territorial integrity.

In short, and not to sound too melodramatic, Pakistan will have to pry Kashmir open from the dead, lifeless fingers of India.

There will be lifeless and dead fingers across a very large region much before that.

The Pakistani Punjabis may have some weird obsession with kashmir, it doesn't make them entitled to it. They can as well obsess with Somalia and Eritrea (much more Islamic)!

Pakistan got what it got in 1947. Every inch was a bonus. They would not get any more land from India now. Partition was a one time event, not a process.

They risk losing it all rather than making the most of what they got. Hope someone knocks the sense back that they are no Kazak ghudsawar and those days of nomadic barbaric invasions are long over.

If history is anything to go by, Pakistan as a country never existed for 100 years. History may repeat itself soon. :)
