Narendra Modi to inaugurate new parliament building in Afghanistan

Typical british era government building designs inherited from british masters.. I always wonder why government biuilding in India (and now after seeing these pic , in pakistan too) are so lame and backward.

They are just utilitarian rectangles. Not really Victorian or Gothic at all. It is called Modern Design. Everybody does it, because it is the most efficient design. If you go to the 'Old European' towns and cities and compare it to the newer industrial centers built in the last 50 years you will also see a night and day difference as well.

How's this ?

I said typical...not always...there are exceptions but one can identify the government building (from distance) due to its standard architecture. May be the above one is not for public that is why it is better designed.

I agree it is best design..I have no question on the rectangular shape, but i am just pointing to an observation. Even rectangular shape has lots of options in economical way.

A nice gesture by India. Afghanistan needs lot more for rebuilding their infrastructure and bringing eternal peace to their homelands. In this regard, a very important role will be played together by India and Pakistan with gradual withdrawal of western forces.

It was also very good to see some pictures of Pakistan developed infra and buildings in Afghanistan. Being direct neighbors, there is an immense responsibility on them too for rebuilding the war torn country. India should help more with providing beyond just aid but strengthening the roots of democracy so that in future also Afghan ppl can have a voice forever.

Hope soon Taliban comes to peace with all affected parties. The fight and useless attacks are harming Afghanistan more along with casualties on Indian and Pakistani help to the country being rebuilt for the people of Afghanistan.

Thanks for the tag.
Great news!
So far India has been able to respond to exigencies of Afghanistan.
The parliament building is a symbol of democracy and I hope after decades of turbulence, peace dawns on Afghanistan.

Madam ji, one small doubt.. in fact two doubts
1. I remember your name as levina, how it became aminroop?
2. i cannot PM you so i dont know how to ask you if your "aminroop" name yours in real life (i am reading another name there ;););))

.
Great work, Indian aid to afghanistan has been in the critical sector of roads, health, and power now this parliament building with hopes of democracy flourishing there

A good gesture, and good to see the regional powers helping this poor country. Having been there,i really felt bad this truly beautiful country and the population.... trapped between the Taliban scums and the ultra-corrupt politicians...
Is India financing other projects ? @anant_s @PARIKRAMA @ranjeet @mpk1988 @SrNair

Actually .Afghanistan's stability is a priority for us.
They are our brothers for several thousand years .Due to our own limited resources and ignorance ,we neglected the possible ramifications happened in Afghanistan after 1990 (Soviet Withdrawal ) and we paid heavily for that .
Anti Indian elements used those jobless Mujahideens in our Kashmir . Created decades old insurgency and then 1999 Kandahar Hijack .
We dont want such horrible experience again. And also now we have enough reosurces and power to use .
We will do anything to maintain stability in Afghanistan .Military solution is not applicable in Afghan area .Only good development helps .So we are helping them in all areas.

I have also seen that possibility when I first read that new name. :D

were you deployed with the french forces in afghanistan ??

.
The project is now set to meet its deadline on December 31, having already missed three deadlines over the last four years.

Well is there anything Indians can accomplish on time??

With no interference from external powers it would flourish.

Afghan policies always create reasons for foreign power interference..all the way back to British empire until WOT...

My friend why should i be a "professional" ? (I'm really far to be called "professional") I expect that many other members did their duty (As it is normal, and a moral duty toward the nation),and are just modest without claiming medals or prizes. :enjoy:
All I meant was that you are deserving of the "professional" title according to PDF rules sir :D
