Dhar is hindu pundit surname and dar is muslim kashmiri surname.

Kashmiri muslims of Dar tribe are descendants of ancient feudal land holding chiefs of kashmiri villages which have been mentioned as Damara in ancient history of kashmir valley, Dar is simply corruption of Damara or Damar, they have nothing to do with any kind of brahmins, here is proof from google books

@Chak Bamu - I believe the common masses in Pakistan were themselves the victims of those barbaric Islamic invasions so it was not your fault to begin with. But the bone of contention between the people of land started when you guys, having lost your original identity, started wearing the identities of those barbarians (mostly because you were forced to do so) and on top of it started abusing what ever was related to your past. Once that got started, people on the other side replaced the real perpertrators with you and started hating you, the muslim converts of Indian subcontinent.

This is the reality which most Pakistani seems to run away from today and the day you folks start acknowledging the reality of your lands and your identity, trust me you will come closer to us than to Arabs.

Lavanya is a Sanskrit name meaning grace, beauty. So the tribe calling themselves Lavanya were certainly of Indic origin.

I have read every page of this thread till now. But no body has said anything about Ashok the Great who spread Buddhism throughout Asia by sending his son and daughter (one to Srilanka and one to Japan). It is said that he changed from Chandashok to Dharmashok after he won battle of Kalinga and was at pain to see so much bloodshed and after that he met Buddha or his disciple (I do not know) under whose teaching he changed completely. But for him Buddhism would not have spread like this.

Also another interesting thing is that we have a tooth of Buddha in our Museum at Bhubaneswar. Some body please clarify if tooth can have DNA of a person. If yest then we can scan among billions of people to see if someone is carrying the same DNA, as Lord Buddha also had a son.

1. Those who did it may be long dead and gone but they are the heroes to the current set of Muslims. They are leads on whose footsteps the current generation wants to follow. Therein lies the danger. To say they are dead and gone and do not matter is delusion.
2. Apology is the only thing one can do and must do to express regret and remorse over a wrong doing. If not even capable of that, that what hopes do you have of any reconciliation ever.

I doubt you can blame our leaders or ancestors. Remember they had a history and tradition of thousands of years and they were not a part of world view which believed in being conquerors. They were mostly self-contained. It is very hard to change that outlook in a matter of few decades or even few centuries. What happened in Arabia was a surprise to the Arabs themselves. The entire Middle East, North African, and Southern Europe was torn asunder. We survived and we survived because our ancestors fought back. We can only learn and prepare ourselves, not so that we emulate the conquerors but that we can remain free.

Korean delegation pledges to promote interfaith harmony, tourism

The delegation, led by Korean Ambassador Song Jong-hwan, visits Jaulian on Friday. — Dawn




TAXILA: A Korean delegation representing diplomatic, development, media and expedition sectors has reiterated the country’s pledge to promote the peaceful side of Pakistan.

The pledge followed the delegation’s visit to the Taxila Museum, the site of the Dharmarajika Stupa and the 2,700-year-old Jaulian Monastery University. The visit was arranged by the Gandhara Art and Culture Association (GACA) in order to promote cultural exchange between Pakistan and Korea.

The delegation comprised Ambassador Dr. Song Jong Hwan, Korean business executive Jae Ho Choi, mountaineer Park Jung-Hun, and broadcasting officials Park Junwoo and An Jaemin.

They were accompanied by GACA President retired Brig Balal Ahmed Khan, GACA Secretary-General Esther Park, former Punjab education minister Mian Imran Masood, and Amna Aurangzeb.

During their visit, members of the delegation remarked on the historical relationship between Korea and Pakistan, which dates back to 4th century AD when Maranantha – a monk from the Gandhara region – travelled to Korea preaching Buddhism.

In the 8th century, a Korean monk Hyecho visited the Gandhara region and wrote a travelogue titled Wang ocheonchukguk jeon, which translates to ‘Memoir of the Pilgrimage to the Five Kingdoms of India’ and includes his pilgrimage to present-day Kashmir, Gilgit, Peshawar and Gandhara.

Mountaineer Jung-Hun is set to launch an expedition following the ‘footprints’ of Buddhism, and will be accompanied by a crew of broadcast officials.

Speaking during the visit, the Korean ambassador said Pakistan had been gifted with a rich cultural and artistic heritage, but the lack of infrastructure and plethora of security issues hinders the flow of tourists to Pakistan.

He said Pakistan could rebuild its tourism industry with the improvement of its image abroad and with the strengthening of its infrastructure. He added that Korean monks and the government were keen to support the Gandhara Renaissance Project in Taxila.

GACA President Brig. Khan said the association hoped to revive an ancient Taxila university with modern facilities and teaching aides, a step that could make Pakistan a centre for interfaith harmony.

Khan said the university will include the Gandhara School of Art and Architecture and the Gandhara Institute of Postgraduate Studies. He said reviving the university would promote the extensive study of comparative religions, and interfaith harmony. In addition, by inviting scholars from around the world, the university will also promote tourism in Pakistan.

Jae Ho Choi, a Korean businessman, said Pakistan could increase its religious tourists by strengthening its tourism infrastructure and improving the law and order situation.

Amna Aurangzeb, a member of the association and an educationist, said a series of cultural activities would be organised in Islamabad this September to teach younger students the significance of Gandhara culture.
