A Bangladeshi fisherman was shot dead and another injured as Myanmar Border Guard Police (BGP) opened fire on them while fishing in the Bay of Bengal near Teknaf upazila early Monday.

The victim was identified as Nurul Amin, 26, son of Kabir Ahmed, a resident of Chowdhurypara of Teknaf municipality.
Hakim Ali, also a fisherman, said a group of fishermen were fishing there around 7am.
At one stage, a BGP team intruded into the Bangladesh water territory and opened fire on the fishermen, leaving Nurul dead on the spot and Mortuza Miah injured, Hakim added.
The injured fisherman was taken to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital.

Year to year BSF killed BD people now day after day BGP killing our people. How many days our govt. & BGB show their patience about border killing. never they had taken any step. if this incident not stopped then it is better to deploy Ansar instead of BGB. we don't need any border security guard who do not save own people.

Whatever it takes to deflate your ego about BD martial prowess (living with tigers etc etc) will be done by both India and MM.

Please put Ansars or whatever, they will be exposed as well when another illegal (fisherman, pole vaulter or smuggler) decides to push his luck and stray.

Horrific.

In any other country the intruders would be arrested and returned or jailed, but it seems with Bengalis its shoot-to-kill on both borders.

Unfortunately govt. still have illusion of creating partnership with myanmar. So they have taken a path of appeasement vis a vis with myanmar.

I don't know what is the strength of BGB in Naf river areas against the burmese.Even if they have an upper hand, probably they will not respond with forces as they are very much a docile force compared to the previous BDR.After peelkhana carnage they were created in such ways. Not to be a threat to anyone.

As long as this hasina weak a$$ cu nt will be here... yes we will buy fancy weapons and all but we will not be using em. At least Khaleda used Chinese weapons and used em. Even though she's a weak spine idiot who stole people's money like hasina. At the end people still praises the caretaker govt don't they.... I mean Myanmar stopped the drilling process when strict threat from our side was sent... and none of the countries dare to challenge it outside court... maybe the reason why we got whatever we got in the seas... else these weak a$$ women couldn't have got even a fifth of what we have ATM.

There have been great female leaders throughout history but our countries women are only big mouth... nothing else. Else we would have seen a good action against MM aggression

didn't wish for anything... idk why you're so excited?

You are wishing for "a good action" against Myanmar "aggression". That's totally a wish and dream that you should be careful about in reality....esp given you are not there at the border to face the heat.

i believe post mutiny years... we have mortared them for constantly shooting at our soldiers... they came to recieve the bodies... and the hasina's second term happened and since then we are taking it up our *** without objection... something says me either we are bound off by hasina who actually likes it in the bum... or all residents in our country does...

lol that's insane. who will shoot them unless they come to other's territory.?
dont be angry at ur pm.coz she cant do nothing in this case even summoning Myanmar respresentive.she exactly know her country fellow went inside Myanmar territory and fishing illegally..
here is our official statement..

the red dot is their position. at first we warned them to stop and back to BD's territory. they didnt listen and even tried to resist our warning.then we just shot 2 time and one dead and one injuried. we also sent a letter to ur pm for this case.this would be 2nd case of ilegal fishing from BD in this year. u guy should do in ur territory if u guys dont want to face like this. we already alerted and reinforced the whole BGP corp near BD border.

we already used this way for years. they are arrested and deported. sometime jailed and deported. but come again within months or years. but the number is multiplying. so we gave up. decided to use Indian way and it is more effective.

Seeing from the news reporting of Bangladeshi media, Burmese media and other Asian media (which we should look at) - There are stark differences. The deliberate bias of both the Bangladeshi media and Burmese media are clearly present. But we are all human aren't we? :D

But, one thing I did notice in the is that our border security officials are not clear as to what constitutes the water lines. They are not sure whether or not those fishermen crossed the line. And that is a cause for concern.

While there is no information regarding the particular unfortunate fishing vessel in question, it is worth noting that most (if not all) of these small rural fishing boats do not carry sonar or radar equipment. Or in other words, they don't carry any equipment whatsoever. Since it was a 'fishing boat', it is likely to have been a very rudimentary vessel.

Given the tensions in that part of Burma, one should take all the necessary precautions. Did Bangladesh' law, its security forces take these measures to ensure safety of its citizens?

Going into international waters without equipment is never a bright idea. You will attract all manner of dangers.

Well, the Tatmadaw also use Chinese weaponry. I don't see how Bangladesh using Chinese weapons makes any point.

I believe we have talked enough about Burma. Let's look at how Burma can potentially see Bangladesh as an adversary.

Let's begin from strategy. What would be their basic strategy against an opponent like Bangladesh? The idea here would be to see the Way of an adversary. The Way meaning the moral fiber of the adversary in question, the coherence of social order, the popularity of the government, or the common morale. Under the correct conditions, a small group can prevail over a large group. And these conditions are justice, order, cohesion and morale. Regardless of equipment and numbers, those who run a moribund organization are bound to perish and those who run a viable one will be the victors.

See, during the Arab war against the Persians, the Persian forces were far better trained and equipped along with the numbers to back them up. This is relative to the force led by Khalid Ibn al-Walid. And yet, Al-Khalid emerged as the decisive victor in every battle against the more numerically and technologically advanced Persian army. Now that is a true mark of a brilliant general. Indeed, military history has shown this. There are so many examples.

Now ask yourselves, how do you fare in the above? I leave it to all of you to figure it out. Do not blame anyone (or any country for that matter) if it isn't anything good.
