My views on Modi

I have been reading various views & counter views on Modi here by various posters of all nationalities. My views are as below.

I will keep it short & not justify my views.

I see in Modi , the first PM who is secular, doesn't appease any sect creed or religion, unlike some fakes we had earlier, I also see an honest and incorruptible PM who is completely focused on taking India to a very different level, I also see a dedicated, hard working, imaginative, practical, grounded,proactive and a very intelligent and shrewd person in him. I also see the results of his labour bearing fruit.

He also is the first PM we have had in decades who is in control of his Govt. It may not be 100 % ( it would become a dictatorship) but one feels that he has a firm grip on the handle.

I don't get what most of us are doing - criticising him without having made any contribution ourselves. Least we can do is, not hinder him in his quest and call him names even before his 5 yrs are up.

If at the end of 5 years we are not happy, the ballot box has other buttons too. The man deserves a fair chance to succeed before he fails.

Finally a Question- what is our Plan B - Rahul Gandhi ?

It does not matter if Modi is the best PM we have, what matters is what our our options both within the NDA & in the UPA ?

A lot of Indians are the kind of people who want instant Gratification. The Call of Duty era of kids were flashy some showing off and some "strong words" will satisfy them..

I agree that the opposition is a joke and there is absolutely no way an idiot like Rahul Gandhi should be leading the country. At the same time, it is truly a sad state of affairs that after two years one of the main points in Modi's support is the famous Thatcherism- there is no alternative- a lack of plan B.

I am guilty of giving up on him.

But i must agree, that Modi is a true leader, a crowd puller. He gets ppl to sit up and take notice.
Most of his ministers are performing well albeit some in his govt water down his efforts.
I am keeping my fingers crossed, i hope he gets a 2nd term to achieve what he aims to achieve. 5 years are not enough to bring a behemoth like India back on track.

When the alternatives are Rahul or Nitish then Modi is BY FAR the best option India has. He has disappointed in many areas but surprised in others, it is a mixed bag but I still feel this GoI is doing better than the UPA.

- My town used to get 8 hours of power cut during UPA, we get 9 hours of power cut during BJP. 9 hours is minimum and properly scheduled power cut - as a bonus we always get couple of hours more.

Which state are you from???? By the way I am lucky to be from a state which has not see powercut for past 3 years (though the situation now is pretty bad, since it is election time the govt is reluctant)


By the way your overall post is a perfect example of the feeling of a common man and how he see a govt or its leader.....

See, the rot has set in very deep into our system. It has been institutionalized by the UPA.

Now, at lower levels there are bound to be rotten apples in the BJP too who would expect the old ways to remain. They are causing the drag in the system.

The current govt has 2 things in their favor....

1) The majority they have in LS (no fear of coalition dharma)
2) A leader who is in control of the govt

I guess currently one can criticise the policies of Govt, but it is too early to criticise them on their achievements/results......

1. Zero corruption
2. Focus on good governance
3. Active response to public grievances
4. Dynamic foreign policy
5. Worlds fastest growing Major economy
6. Devolution of power to state government
7. Including 300 million new back accounts
8. Massive upgrade in Road and Rail infrastructure.

Sure, the "main point" is there is no Plan B.

IT is so refreshing to see such an "Honest" and "religious unbiased" opinions.

Modi had an option (as a self proclaimed moralistic man) to select Honest, if not honorable ministers. But look at what he did instead:

Agreed but I was contesting the point about Modi being not taking a single leave..How does it matter to me if the there are no tangible results on the Mohalla Level.. I can only speak for my experience and I am sure others may be better or worse off.

Mate Everyone kinda knew what they were getting from UPA..Corruption and populism but the populist measures in the end left something in the hands of common man but with the current administration the common man hear all sorts of feel good stuff which is great but the when he checks his wallet and it seems much lighter then his hope turns to ashes and that feeling of betrayal is way worse than feeling of expected disappointed which he was getting from UPA.

Case in point fiasco over PF withdrawl and extra tax on Jewellers. I as an educated person can understand the rationale behind these measures being fiscal consolidation but the usual chap might not take such a charitable view.

There is still hope for course correction and but it is unlikely as the opposition has stopped the legislative processes like GST which might have bought tangible gains.
