The only thing that prevented BJP from getting a majority was....

Caste consolidation. BJP was seen as a Brahmin-Baniya party for a long time. But the so called 'lower castes' consolidated in favour of BJP this time, breaking the traditional regional alliances.

In states like Bihar or U.P it was the lower caste-Muslim alliance that held sway.

In U.P. religious polarisation worked. In other states, they would shift gears play the economy card.

Come next elections hindus will repeat the same as they did this election with even more thumping majority.

Would you say it is part of Indian culture and religion to do infanticide or is it an anomaly. Does it have societal approval or is it a crime? If it is cultural like mehendi and haldi on a wedding is cultural, then there won't be any woman left at all. Or is it a religious practice? There are tons of areas where Muslims cut animals on the streetside in public. To ask them to not do it becomes communal.
