Apparently the guy has a pathetic understanding of the difference between a crude disgusting and uncivilized joke (also can be simply called a hypocritical insult) with that of something that makes another laugh (which normal people call jokes)

he did clarify with "these kinds of jokes are exciting, that is where tension is found". I agree with him, many comedians make racial jokes (where tension is found), they stereotype people so i don't think there is anything wrong with taking a dig on religion.
