Earlier the SIT police have filed a petition before the Nampally criminal court seeking the police custody of Hindu Vahini activists who are allegedly involved in communal attacks targeting Muslim community.

The court today granted 4-day police custody of the accused till 28 November and directed the investigating agency to produce them back before the court after the completion of custody.

On November 13 the Task force police arrested six Hindu Vahini activists namely S. Sadanand, 27, electrician, Shakthi Vinod, 24, car driver, K. Unni Krishna, 23, junior artiste, Pabha Bhargav, 21, degree student, S.V. Santosh, 22, fashion technology student, and P. Kalyan, 26 for their role in planned attacks targeting members of a Muslim community believing that the latter resorted to cow slaughtering during the Eid-Al-Azha.

In these attacks as many as seven Muslim youths were attacked in Kachiguda, Chikkadpally, Bowenpally and other areas in city. The Commissioner Police later handed over these cases to SIT.

“ We suspect that there is a larger conspiracy behind the attacks targeting one particular community, the police are trying to find out the prime perpetrator,” a senior official in SIT told.

Washington, DC - A US commission has placed India on its 'watch list' on religious freedom after it cited a "disturbing increase" in communal violence against religious minorities in the Hindu dominated nation.

The US Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) chair, Leonard Le stated that is was "extremely disappointing that India, which has a multitude of religious communities, has done so little to protect and bring justice to its religious minorities under siege."

The India chapter of the USCIRF said the deficiencies in investigating and prosecuting cases have resulted in a culture of impunity that gives members of vulnerable minority communities few assurances of their safety, particularly in areas with a history of communal violence, and little hope of perpetrator accountability.
The report asked the Obama administration to urge the Indian government to take new measures to promote communal harmony, protect religious minorities, and prevent communal violence.

Wrong, such people are their in every society, but it depends on how majority treats them.

The media, government and intellectuals etc will start gunning for them. We do not shower rose petals on them.
