He is not "suggesting" anything. He is telling you a FACT right in your face that these Koranic verses regarding dress code of Muslim women are WAY out of context regarding present day situations
Unless some Mujtahid (learned Muslim scholar) reform 9th century interpretations of these verses and make the adjustable with modern day standards, there is no hope for gullible Muslims

The verses are perfectly in context.

O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to bring down over themselves [part] of their outer garments. That is more suitable that they will be known and not be abused.

What more context do you want? Does it have to specify ''this applies to all women, including those of the 21st century''?

There is no ''reformation'' that will make nudity and obscenity allowed in Islam. Such a ''reformation'' is called 'leaving the religion'.

i think my point was this...

many ( or most ) modern indian modern muslims are the most reactionary and moralistic "muslim" population in the world, yet they decide that their fortunes are bettered by western college degrees or jobs in western nations... the very west whose general culture they despise or won't adopt, even the good elements... if you visit indian muslim localities ( ghettoes ) or those they have ghettoized, you will find them no different from talibanized afghanistan in terms of clothing and general attitude to life... all burqa and mosque.

there are 300,000+ mosques in india, the world's highest and most constructed in the last 20 years.

half of the problems in india ( like farmer suicides ) are simply because of wrong economic system ( capitalist to the highest degree )... the mosque-ing muslims in india not only have suffered because of this but i also consider them to be the primary criminals, because their supposed religion had the solution yet they brought mosque-ing and burqa-ing to the front and rejected the core ( and real ) part of islam and while condemning or insulting "immoral west" they sought to obtain benefit from it only because they couldn't achieve much in india because of their own faults, mistakes, stupidities and anti-human reactionary parasitic nature.

the present imam of all muslims is muammar gaddafi... doesn't matter whether he is dead or alive... he is a adept of the quran... and his status will remain until his successor is found, even if in ten years or fifteen.

in the 1980's, on live tv, he faced a bunch of reactionary type mullahs and put points and counter-points to them about islam and quran... and the libyan islam was different from the "islam" known in modern south asia or iran or saudia or indonesia or even in his africa nations of kenya and nigeria.

i see that this thread has taken a wrong turn and some members are taking a anti-human line sadly... i wish the close of this thread and lessons to be learnt by these people by they reviewing their opinions and ideology and ways of looking at the world.

We have a religion, keeping ourselves and our women a little covered is part of it. It has nothing to do with secularism, and quoting Ibne Rushd does not want me to abandon those parts of Islam. We are not saying it should be illegal for women to do gymnastics. We are saying she shouldn't do gymnastics in revealing clothes. It is an opinion and a perfectly valid opinion.

That's the difference between liberalism and pseudo-liberalism - the latter is just about shoving ''western values'' down everyone's throats.

If you've abandoned a good portion of Islam, that's your problem. Don't expect everyone else to do the same.

She can practice gymnastics in stretchable fabrics that cover the legs if she wanted to. But not doing so is her choice. So be it.

I understand what you're saying. It's really simple however, whatever does not contradict the Quran and is from the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is what Muslims should emulate. All of the other minor details should not beof major concern unless they contradict the Quran and Sunnah. Simple as that.
