Burka is not the problem. The problem is extremist Muslims are doing bad things in the name of Islam. What's worst is more then a billion Muslims are painted with same brush as the extremists. I just said I don't like the idea of conservative Islam. I don't like to fall back to 1500s. That's not saying I dislike Islam. I like the modern version or the moderate version where people are not going mad if someone is wearing jeans or if someone is listening music or if some girl is getting married to outside religion guy or if someone is not keeping beard or if some girl is studying.

I like when people do not interfere in others life. Like in middle east when its Ramadan no one can eat outside. Not what the hell is this. if you want to keep fast be my guest keep it, but why should others not be able to eat. this is ridiculous. If the argument is that when others eat you cannot keep your fast, then I would say you need to be strong to keep your fast. In India millions keep fast but that doesn't mean millions others cannot eat same time.

Conservative Islam is all about repression of other religions. It also means suppression of all science, and suppression of women by men.

So I am happy if burqa is banned. I would be happy if its banned in India also.

There are peaceful Muslims but they are not heard. I mean come one peaceful Muslims outrage against terrorism is not going to make a great headlines in the media. Few groups of radical shouting death to the West makes great headlines and paints all Muslims as same. Even the peaceful and moderate Muslims are forced to shut up by extremists and the Western Media.

I agree. Fasting is for the sake of God and feeling how the poor live every single day. Banning others to eat outside is a stupid concept. I know its in place in some Muslim countries. Its illogical. If you can't fast then don't fast.

Its not conservative Islam but political Islam. People like Zakir Naik, Mullah Omer, Anjem Choudhry, OBL all have used the name of Islam for their political motives. They want nothing but power. If they didn't use Islam as their tool then these type of people would have even used a donkey to further their political agendas.

This thread is not about the hijab.

Burka should be banned in Airports, Banks and government buildings. I agree. But why are Indians showing their happiness when ever they see anything against Muslims or Islam? Do they really show their happiness when you meet them in person? or internet anonymity makes them some sort of Hindu warriors?

There should be no law banning this. However, Muslims need to realise that the Burqa is completely alien to the native culture and not something demanded of them should they want to cover up.

I would never stop a woman wanting to wear a hijab, but burqa in this country I strongly advise against.

I see a lot of burka wearing in India nowadays, gives me the scares to even glance in the direction of women wearing black all over lest I be held responsible for looking at them.....sure sign that Indian muslims are getting radicalised nowadays.

Back to the topic. Burkahs should be banned because of security concerns--if not for other reasons. And, yes, there is NO comparison with the Jewish skullcap or the Muslim skullcap (the Topi--in Urdu). And, yes, again: Their country, their rules--within reasons! And it is quite reasonable to ban the Burkahs. Will we Pakistanis allow mini-skirts on the streets of Karachi? -- don't ask for my personal opinion on this one )

First ask yourself why women have to wear burqas in some Muslim communities and if every woman is wearing them without pressure from male family members.

Then ask yourself if the reason why they have to wear it complies with values of Gender equality and individual freedom!
