Not necessarily - the current peace talks were being opposed by various factions, and these factions were using the lack of any direct statement from Mullah Omar as a means of arguing that Omar did not support them. With Mullah Omar now dead, the Taliban will either splinter along those same lines, or they will have to unite under Akhtar Mansoor or someone acceptable to Mansoor's group.those that were loosing sleep over the Pakistani initiative of tri-lateral talks in Murree will be celebrating now
thats the issue with these worthless piece of shites that are so volatile and unreliable .. it took a lot of brinkmanship and back door diplomacy that saw Americans, Afghan regime and even china on-board our peace initiative with Afghan taliban, now their internal conflicts remind me of the time when even taking the warmongers of 80-90s to Mecca didnt help to stop their infighting.
its a lost cause now.
Mansoor's 'team' is pretty powerful and influential, especially with Sirajuddin Haqqani on his side. He has been a major backer of the peace talks, which means Afghanistan and China would prefer to see him in charge as well. The wild card here is The NDS - are they going to undermine Mansoor because of Indian pressure and because he is considered to be the ISI's guy, and in the process undermine peace in Afghanistan, or will they get on board and go after the TTP and the hardline factions of the Afghan Taliban opposing Mansoor and opposing peace talks.
