The problem with Arab nation is that their previous dictator leaders don't develop the social and political infrastructure that is crucial in a transition period before embracing democracy fully . For example, the media industry should be prepared and matured first before we start to adopt democracy. I can say that the media industry maturity is the most important factor in preparing people to understand democratic values, where people start to learn to discuss, debate, get insight from honest intellectual, etc, and then understand that at some point we should agree to disagree in order to sustain democratic system. People start to view their differences as something minor compare to their long term goal and unity.

In Indonesia, starting from1990 we started to open our press freedom even though not really fully. Private TV stations were launched and are managed by professionals. I don't know what happened in Egypt, Iraq, etc in term of this matter.

Beside that multiple party system should be implemented first in a "fake parliament" of a dictatorial regime. So, all power in that nation has already been consolidated in a civilian way, waiting for free election to come.

from first days of syrian conflict , Assad said they should resolve the problem through political means and make a national election , but rebels made a pre-condition " Assad should go " for any political solution .why they did this !? why they didn't accept a free election !? that simple , in any election , Assad easily could win .

I'm sure even in Libya , Qaddafi could easily win any election , that why NATO wanted to finish Qaddafi as quick as they could .
