Im looking for guidance on MS specialisation. I want to know which one of the following specialisations would be worth doing in terms of job market and scope both within and outside pakistan. MS in Energy Systems Engineering from USP-CASE or MS Systems Engineering in Autonomous Aerospace Systems from RCMS. Please advise. Thanks

What did you have at under graduate level ?
what are you doing now ?
and why could you not use spell check in your post ?

@544_delta also, you have to wait for Nust admissions. Atleast 3 months. Admission will be announced in April, you will have a month to apply. Whole process takes 3-4 months (depends on which campus you taking admission). I don’t know much about your field, as i am a “different” engineer. So can’t help in suggesting which one is better.

Energy systems engineering has more scope in job market than Autonomous Aerospace Systems engineering. You can even get a decent job on just a B.E also. There is no guarantee that M.S will increase your salary package.

Target the Job market. When i was pursuing Graduate program at Comsats Islamabad during 2011, almost 95% of the graduates were enrolled in the Power System Engineering (or Electrical Power Engineering), and the rest 5% were scattered in other fields. The reason was massive demand for Electrical Power Engineers.

Remember, Pakistan is a very stagnant & risky market, and I have realized this after years of sufferings and hardships. Follow the trend, where most student's are enrolling themselves.

My Friend opted for MS Networks communications and he published 10 research papers, some in very well reputed internationals Journals. Today is is pursing Ph.D at University of Turin Italy, and is almost near completion. Its very easy to do publish papers in Networks communications.

I on the other hand opted for Error Control Coding (ECC), which is a very mature and mathematical field of Electric Engineering. Though I completed my Masters, but couldn't publish research papers due to loss and wastage of time and usage of IT++ and other exotic interfaces in research, plus my pathetic research supervisor who became HoD at Comsats!.

Be Smart!

Right!

I just want a job, don't care much about salary. Energy systems engineering is renewable energy oriented according to course catalogue and description on NUST's site. but that other one is aerospace related and i have an interest in space exploration. how do these programs fare in international job market? any chance of me landing a job with any aerospace company with this degree? please advise.

Thank you. i am a graduate of comsats as well (wah campus). That trend of power engineering is still going strong but i dont want to pursue it as i have no solid foundation due to my telecom specialisation. Also i think renewable energy is beginning to gain some traction. what do you think about energy systems engg. ?

aerospace engineer has high demand in u.s but in Pakistan its demand is limited and we have low budget for space projects so aerospace studies is not better hear go to u.s if you can for aerospace universities

but can i make it in US aerospace industry with a degree from NUST? they will surely require experience which will be hard to get in pakistan as we have no space program

china also has good space program but language may become problem in studying their university .You can get direct admission in u.s university if you get good score in SAT exam and if you can afford study there and it is not necessary you first complete degree at nust.
