Yes Railways turn around was due to able administrators. Why one forgets he ruled Bihar for 15 years and brought the state to misery. Fodder scam is still going on against him. He openly supports Gooda raj his MP's operate from Jails.

He acted very maturely this time in the Gujarat's riots. The first thing after the blasts, he instructed all the police chief's that there should be 'no reaction' to the blasts. Which is completely at odds to the last time in 2002 when he said 'every action has an equal and opposite reaction' to when the Muslims burnt the trains and carnage followed.

He has matured very well. The last time, he needed the riots to come to get re-elected and apparently he has realized that development is a far surer way to get re-elected than engineered riots, which he cannot do everytime.

Same as Lalu. When he was the Chief Minister of Bihar, he ran the state to the ground in 15 years, absolutely no development. Everything stopped with law and order deteriorating. He ran Bihar like his personal fiefdom. Now since he was elected out the first time, he has taken a 180 degree turn. He has emphasized development and realized that it would take him much further if he actually worked for the state. Now he has started so many railways projects in Bihar, apart from another coach fabrication plant in Bihar. You learn, better late than never, and it seems Lalu, as well as Modi have learnt and changed.

Laalu is a jocker of indian politics and nothing more, what shocked me is the people are appreciating him for what he has done to bihar for 20 years. Regarding railways, the turn around in railways profits are not due to laalu or effective management. Indian railways is making a mockery out of indian travellers by cheating and robbing them. The sudden profits are due to dubious methods employed by indian railways by increasing tatkal quota, high cancellation charges, no tatkal ticket refund etc.
