KARACHI, Oct 9: Chief of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Altaf Hussain has called for the setting up of ‘Haq Parast Relief Fund’ under the auspices of the Khidmat-i-Khalq Foundation (KKF) to collect donations in cash and kind to help rehabilitate victims of the earthquake that hit many areas of the country on Saturday.

In a statement issued from the MQM International Secretariat in London and received here on Sunday, he appealed to general public, particularly philanthropists, to come forward and donate generously to mitigate the sufferings of the quake victims.

He urged them to deposit their donations in the KKF A/c No.3650-0 with the Allied Bank, Dastagir Colony Branch, Karachi.

The statement also pointed out that the MQM had set up relief camps in different cities across Sindh to collect donations in cash and commodity.

HIGH ALERT: The City Nazim-elect Mustafa Kamal on Saturday advised DCO Karachi Fazlur Rehman to put all city agencies on high alert for relief work, including collection of donations for the victims of earthquake that has hit Punjab, NWFP, Northern Areas and Azad Kashmir.

According to a handout issued late on Saturday night, Mr Kamal is himself collecting reports about relief operations in Karachi so that no effort is spared in providing succour to the unfortunate people.

The DCO has, accordingly, put Civil Defence, utility and other concerned departments of the City District Government Karachi on high alert.

He also issued directives for handing over of the machinery of the Works and Services and other departments of CDGK to the Civil Defence Department.

MQM CONSIGNMENT: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement on Sunday dispatched a truck of relief goods to Mansehra.

A spokesman for the MQM told PPI that a 10-member medical team had already been sent to Mansehra whereas the truck, carrying medicine and other relief goods, left for the city on Sunday.

He said that the MQM had set up 58 camps in various parts of the city to collect relief goods for the people affected by the earthquake. — Agencies

Other parties need to learn from MQM! I personally don't agree with some of their antics as a national party, but MQM has always had a very balsy attitude towards terrorism. Good going!

.
for god sake , all political parties should support this action and dont let those terrorist come to cities ..its time to think and make a stand for pakistan .. support your Army , Support your Country :pakistan:

Stop this political point scoring, and good of MQM to support the operation.

this is need of time to give support to Pak army? what political point scoring in it, MQM has always insisted for cleaning TTP mess

Point scoring being first party nonsense. Rest assured the support is in good books of MQM.
