MPT-76 Battle Rifle | News and Discussions

@cabatli 53 @Neptune

I don't understand this.

First MKEK came up with the Mehmitck-1, then Kale came up with MPT, then Sarslimaz with SAR-21.

Now, 'WHO' has the contract or is it a competetion?

Any new updates?

Currently a very large number of rifles are produced and sent to the various units of the Army as well as Amphibious Marines and SAS&SAT. They're under TAF Acceptance test which's the last step before full mass production.

MKEK's model was a derivative from HK-416 with G-36's gas piston system. Laterly cancelled due to licence rights objected by Germans

Sarsilmaz, it's a licenced clone of M4A1. Currently produced for TAF.

Kale, our own assault rifle created due to the crisis between MKEK and Germans. It'll be our actual assault rifle this year.

If we could have POF, Sarslimaz, UTS and KALE in a joint venture to produce a multi calibre rifle like the ACR or the SCAR, it would have been great for both countries. We will have to replace our G3 battle rifles as the Turkish Army has to replace its G3s and other rifles.

Well, in fact I do believe that after fully integrating MPT Mehmetcik to TAF, Pakistan would buy it. I don't know why, but I believe so :)

Pakistan Army's demands for a battle rifle are very stringent. From the 50+ degrees fine sand scortching desert environment to -30 degrees arctic warfare conditions of our glaciers. We need a rifle that can cut it. If the Turkish battle rifle outperforms other 7.62mm rifles, it most definately will be procured to replace our G-3s.

Yeap it does yara. It works from -30C to 55C climates. Endurance of a rifle is 20.000 rounds. The problem is, the standart service rifle will be 5.56 NATO, (some idiotic nato doctrine). But it also has two different 7.62 variants. One as battle rifle and the other one for DMR role.

@Neptune

Lets hope for the best on MPT.

Do you know that Havelsan has been given the contract to develop C4I based Network Centric Warfare apparatus with a few local companies like GIDS. ;)

Havelsan has also built an Electronic Warfare Range for PAF.

For who? (probably Pakistan :D). And under what needs?

imm, I need more info on that.

Yea we will see the New MPT on a Defence Exibition this Year in Poland.

What's wrong with 5.56, i have seen videos of US soldiers bursting accurate shots with 5.56 rifles. That's almost impossible with our current G3s.

The problem with 5.56 is that it isn't effective at penetrating thick objects and it also loses much of its power after it travels for 100 meters. So imagine if you are shooting at the enemy who is hiding in the woods 100 meters away and your little 5.56 flies through a few bushes. End result you wont have much stopping power and you wont hit the target where as with a 7.62 you would.

@Sinan @xenon54 @atatwolf @LegionnairE @Neptune @whoever else I missed
Besides in my mind the military should have the same round for its standard issues rifle, dmr's, and lmgs so that we don't have a logistical nighmare. Turkey should make 1 rifle that can be used as a battle rifle and a DMR and you just make a variant with a heavier barrel and reciever to use as an LMG.

I dunno, you military guys would know better. As for me it sounds better that you can throw 10 bullets at the enemy instead of 1 bullet.

I mean look at this. You can never do this with a G3, am i wrong ?

And wow, you were realy following PDF for a long time. :)

@LegionnairE had been in active for months.

It mostly depends on the shooter and what type of optics you are using. Thats small fries right there he is really close to the target the G3 can easily do the same at that range. Check out this video.

Personally I don't have a problem with them, I'm guessing so you are brotha. I believe that adopting 5.56 was the right decision. There's one, only one reason sometimes I believe military service should not be mandatory. Because there are two types of men in our military. One uses logic and has background info about the weapons. And the other one is "yurdun insani". He loves his country and wants to serve to it or may not. But military is not the brightest idea for them. Thats why we used 7.62 all over the country other than the eastern regions. If we can lift the military as mandatory service, and integrate ourselves into a fully professional force. We'll have advanced trainings. Then you'll see that our infantry will use 5.56 more effectively rather than the 7.62. Write it here, you'll see ;)

Actually we are brother. The new Mehmetcik MPT came with 3 variants. 5.56 variant standard service rifle, 7.62 assault rifle for specialised units. And 7.62 DMR variant. There's also a Milli Modern Makineli Tüfek Project. In addition, my opinion over standart service rounds are above this quote at this post. Btw mate welcome to the forum. Pls introduce yourself to us at either Members Introducion or our Turkish Tea House thread ;)

Thanks buddy.

The caliber is not everything. The speed of a bullet can kill even with a glancing blow (it can cause a shock/ heartattack).

Ineffectiv and waste of source. What sound better, to kill someone with one bullet or with 10? Thing about it!
