'Most stupid' Indian killer gets death
DUBAI: An Indian man, described by his lawyer as the 'most stupid' person he has encountered in 40 years, has been sentenced to death by a UAE court for murdering a maid.

The man, who worked as a cook for a UAE government official, beat the maid, who he had been having a relationship with, to death after she told him she was pregnant and threatened to report him for rape, three years ago. He believed her claims even though they had never had sex, local media reported.

The man lived in a villa near the maid's place of work in Abu Dhabi. One day the maid called him over to her employer's house, who was away. They had a "romantic time on the roof which did not exceed hugging", the defence lawyer said.

A week later she told him he had made her pregnant while threatening that she would accuse him of rape. The cook, who was described by his lawyer as the "most stupid murderer" he has seen in 40 years, believing her.

He killed her with a large stone and placed her body in a bathtub, filled it with water and set the villa on fire to destroy the evidence.

The villa burnt down, but the bathtub filled with water remained untouched. The defendant was arrested after he went to his employer asking him to help him flee the country. agenciesBut his employer reported him offering to pay defence expenses and blood money.

The case had been on hold since 2010 because the court could not locate the maid's family.

By a kangaroo court. You cant seriously expect any Court in the UAE carry out justice.

If he didn't know what he was doing, and that she threatened him like that, and he felt that his life was in danger (because he could get sentence to death), his act of killing her was in self defence.

And until such time where the prosecution can negate self defence, the claim of self defence is established.

The victim threatened to accuse him of rape, which I believe carries death sentence in UAE...so he may have thought he may get death anyway, he has a better chance of escaping the execution if he actually killed the victim.

This case is a lesson to those who wants death sentence for rape, which may have intended consequence like the 'rapist' killing the victim.
