What an artistic design isn't it...
Look Deno, if you wan't to critisize your past you must look from both sides. People in Turkey are religious compared to Europe, hence religious practice (friday prayer etc) is a vital part of their life. Therefore, mosques are built by private companies, or persons, it is not an expense from the state. But the thousands of tons of material and manpower to make all those statues and sculptures of Ataturk is a big waste. Why try to constantly build his statue all around the country? To what purpose does it serve? Ataturkism or Kemalism is not a religion, we don't need constant reminder of him wherever you travel in the country. I personally find it extremely disturbing that every school book has to have his cover, every school room his picture, every school several of his statues. Why is it that we in Turkey have to credit the whole creation of the republic to a single man and forget all those people dying for the countries sake in conflicts etc. If Turkey wants to be a modern and free society, it needs to get over the indoctrination. We are belittling ourselves by constantly crediting every single development to this person. You can't find such a mentality anywhere in the West, whom you look up to. Turkey is still partly an Orwellian society.
Edit: And if you truly care about education, you should start opening your eyes to how extreme Ataturkism corrupts our young generation. It is beyond fanaticism.
Hagia Sofia was not a mosque it was a Cathdral... If anything, it should be christians that are b'tching about Hagia Sofia...

ok you are reallyproving retarded by getting off topic, do you have any evidence its his propaganda and and not facts?
Ah!You broke my heart!!Erdogan will not be Prime Minister again. Akp has a strick rule about elections that only permits people to be candinate only three times.
Ah!You broke my heart!!
I love him.
What its party rules that is stopping him from being PM again, not the constitution. He can
change party rules right or are there any laws preventing that.
You see that's something a democrat wouldn't do. As much as I dislike Erdogan, he's not Vladimir Putin or Hugo Chavez.
Also I don't see how your comparisons to Atatürk are relevant. We dont need any Atatürk sculptures, we have plenty of them. Thats a waste of money. But we also dont need more mosques as Deno as proved you all in this thread. This is not about Atatürk vs. Islam or Kemalists vs. Non-Kemalists.
We need teachers, education and hospitals/ more health care. If you're a Muslim and you want help your brothers and sisters who dont have 5 hopsitals around them within 10km, like in many of the western cities. You have to confess that there are enough mosques for all and the money would be better invested in helping the poor with free health care in more hospitals and more/better education.

I agree, but read carefully, I said that we dont need any sculptures and that sculptures are a waste of money. But so are the mosques we're building, because we already have more then enough of them.u r not getting the point bro
u guys wasting 2 much money for making kamal's sculptures

I think that there was a research that more and more people just use them once a week (Fridays) or just at special days. So we have more then enough mosques per capita plus more and more people dont use them daily and pray at home instead or not at all.
