PARIS: France's interior minister says the number of French radicals joining extremists in Syria and Iraq has soared this year, saying that justifies a tough new anti-terrorist law adopted this month.

Bernard Cazeneuve said on RTL radio on Tuesday that the number of French radicals in the region has grown 74 percent this year, to about 1,000 people. That figure includes those who traveled there or back and 200 people who hope to go.


Mr Cazeneuve said authorities are monitoring a French member of the Islamic State group identified by the U.S. State Department last week as one of 10 "Specially Designated Global Terrorists" targeted by new sanctions.

France was the first country to join U.S. airstrikes against Islamic State extremists and has increased its monitoring of French people suspected of joining them.

It is not really that..It is the failure of the French system to integrate these muslims from their past colonies, and the continuation of the stigma imposed on them by a country that is still treating them as undesirable, despite the contribution that this segment of the population is bringing to France. France will be hit severely at their return, that will make the events of May 68 a cake walk!

Very few convert. For example, at the current rate of conversion it will take 300 years for 1% of American population to convert to Islam.

More than two thirds of the converts move away from Islam in 2-3 years once they see the reality.
