It was her wish that he did not annulled it, as she was afraid he will marry someone else. She was mean enough not to grant him liberty from that forced marriage and not let him marry again if he wished.

Modi was pretty clear and explicit that he neither wanted her NOR acknowledge his child marriage. He as also pretty explicit about his desire to take sanyas and be a bachelor to serve the nation. Modi just allowed her to go around claiming to be his wife. I am sure TODAY he regrets that.
