What's new

Modi visits England, Hawk trainers and EJ 200 Engines in wishlist

looks like a manufactured news as UK alone dosent has any major control over the sales of M777 & EJ200 + F414 seems better bet for AMCA i might be wrong :pop:

Definitely manufactured news. EFT engines were once pitched as appropriate for Tejas.

no to my knowledge MK2 will be shelved while after a few chnges and modifications in the current airframe and repackaging and adding a few avioniks current LCA will be so called MK2 while ever since MP has come work is been done at breakneck pace with regards to AMCA next year will surprise all those who made fun of LCA & AMCA :coffee:

we have already ordered 99 F414s let them come in sure MOD is not going to put money in two diffrent types opf jet engines of same capacity and class
If that's the case and mk2 is shelved, what they are gonna do with those 99 f414? They won't fit on current mk1...right?

Ej200 is a decent engine for 4+ gen fighter....but for a 5th gen plane? I don't think so....
They would uprated variant & already bagged contract for Turkish KFX

It would have been a good deal if they bought it for mk2 with crystal blade technology know how....
If you believe someone provide you know how for synthesising of Single Crystal Blade for industrial level for the sake of some bucks, Then please consult your doctor.
But now I don't see logic behind this deal!!
When GE refuse to you give ToT for local production on the level of Euro Consortium,
When GE refused to co-develop engine for AMCA
When USA put strings to their project
When GE investment in F-414 project remains bleak

Then EJ-2000 make lot of sense which would be slightly expensive for short period but cheaper in long period.

why do you think so a sligh modifications will do the job
but maybe just maybe looks like MOD is not happy with GE414 afterall as its diliverry has not started as yet ... not sure though can some one elobrate on this ... thanks

EJ 200 fits the bill??

I thought EJ 200 can't produce enough thrust required for AMCA and only modified F-414 can come close.

EJ-2000 uprated variant produce 120 KN wet thrust.

Definitely manufactured news. EFT engines were once pitched as appropriate for Tejas.
I don't think so as GE simply refused to co-develop f-414 variant for AMCA.

Honesty?
Yeah his honesty has cost India a decade of modernisation time and hundreds of billions of dollars loss...if you take inflation into account...

Where I deny it ?
Even selection of F-414 over EJ-2000 would cost us billion in long run. (without corruption)

It's not me thinking...they offered to share the Crystal blade technology know how during the tender process....Eurojet Bolsters Engine Offer for India's LCA | Defense News | defensenews.com
It doesn't matter now if makes sense or not!!
GE f414 is a done deal!!

Last time I checked hal hinted on airframe modifications and intakes redesign...And they are not minor modifications!!
Pulling out of this deal...Will ruffle some feathers in us...I don't think this govt would take that chance!!

GE f414 is a done deal!!

Like Rafale offered complete ToT
Put yourself in their boot & think would you give your hard earned technology for some bucks ?
They would share more technology compared to GE but no SCB.

We can synthesise SCB in labs but can't produce it in industrial scale.

You take Toilet paper of India seriously?

At least they offered to share...!!
Anthony and his stupid govt made horrendous mistake in choosing ge....which pushed dates for mk2 and made in impractical...and jeopardized amca program!!

Yes.
GoI have nothing to do but big mouth DRDO.

M-777 is product of BAE Systems, USA ( subsidiary of BAE) govern under USA laws.
UK Government have no say in it.
False mate. BAE is a MNC registered in the UK who owns the IPRs to the M777. Originally the 145 gun deal was being conducted with the US government through a FMS deal but the fact that Modi is going to be discussing the M777 when in the UK means this is not about an off the shelf purchase anymore (that would come through FMS with the USG), this is about localised production in India (given the production line for the M777 is shut anyway this shouldn't be an issue) and a lot more than 145 guns.

@Abingdonboy

Here s the list

Hawk trainer

M777

EF 200 for AMCA

Archer
Hawk trainer and M777 will move forward almost certainly but the L&T-Nexter JV offering the CEASER MGS is going to win, not the Archer and GE are the favourites to provide the power plant for the AMCA.

Of course they do control the M777, the EJ200 not so much but I don't find that news credible anyway. GE are all but certain to get the AMCA deal.

You are confusing with BAE (Parent company) with BAE Systems (BAE's US subsidiary)
USA government have final say in it as it have 70 % of US origin parts.
