I hope we will buy alot of those and maybe replacement for our old kalayan presidential plane

Actually, the RP president most use PH Airlines with a certain flight code... though the PH Airlines had phased out its 747-400 fleet. This aircraft, judging the length, is too small for long-range flight.

Anyways, I wonder if this aircraft can be modified for military use, like for communications, electronic warfare (once the PH Airforce gains the capability for this) or maritime patrol missions.

The fanboy is you. You think president use interior is same as ordinary military cargo plane?

At least we still have made in China plane unlike some countries who can only rely on buying becos the domestic industries is infant. :D
Congrats , with their new plane.
So, when Chinese President retiring his Boeing Presidential Planes.

Congrats!

Civilian aviation (refers to whole plane, system integration; excluding upstreams in supply chain) is probably the last and only blank sector for Japanese industry, good to see integrated products like MRJ going into the market!

I am interested to know more about the engine, which says 20% better fuel efficiency and lower noise levels. Any more details welcome to share, thanks.

Material tech, machining, are among some of Japan's leading expertise, and are critical to developing geared turbofan (GTF) engine. In the long run any jet engine from Japanese companies will be considered on MRJ?

In my own opinion, with solid tech/industrial foundation as mentioned above, and the depth of involvement in supply chain so far, there is no doubt Japan can make hi-performance GTF. However just like supercomputer (Fujitsu/NEC/Hitachi vs IBM/Cray/HP; Note the "Cray Era" from 1982 was by Steve Chen, a Taiwanese, designer of X-MP and Y-MP), missile tech (Mitsubishi's "behind-the-scene" involvement in Patriot SM3), etc., I believe US and Japan have reached a concensus that Japan shall remain positions in the supply chain of GTF as well, what's your view?

Congratulations Japan. I hope the country frees itself from American influences and businesses.

When the C939 or C949 is ready, but he can also take a modified Y-20 (available soon) as his presidential plane.

However, a cargo aircraft is not as graceful as a jetliner, it is like to drive a truck instead of a sedan.
