Mistakes in TSK

in 2011 we spend 17.9 billion on defence that is only 2.3 % of gdp , its 25 billion acorrding to spending by PPP and we are 15th in the world , while israel spends like 7% of gdp on defence. we should bump defence to 30 billion maximum

we should go to atleast 3.5 of gdp

No we are on the right track right now. We should continue on R&D focus and manufacture national products whose export will make the military a powerful industry in itself that is able to run independently.

increasing to 3.5 of gdp dont mean we buy from outside , this can mean increased R&D in defence and national products

We need more educated brains. When Turkish engineer gets better than a German engineer than Turkey will be unstoppable. What I'm trying to say, we need to invest more in education. Our elite education needs to get better, in fact the best.

we have brains but we need to give more chances to those brains , freedom , entrepreneurship , look at google , facebook , we need that concept like the american dream.

2) There are helmets for pretty much every unit, although not all standardized
3)I think all SF equipped good, although we're not seeing other SF as much as we see SAT and SAS
3)BTRs, cobras, akreps and trucks were the main vehicles for transportation, trucks being changed with Kirpi MRAPs, BTRs will probably change in future as we have a variety of homemade vehicles.
2)There is Tek-Er project which will modernize and standardize the infantry units with new technologic systems, ballistic vests etc.
3) Yes air defence is probably the worst sie of Turkish military, short range systems being developed in home, longer ranged systems will probably developed in near future, for long range systems we are waiting for tender.
3)Majority of the F16s were going to be upgraded to 50+ standarts, delivery of ordered 30 50/52+ still continues, I think there is no need to further upgrade them because current inventory will last until 2020, after that with F-35 and the newly developed jet, inventory will gradually change.
4) I don't think that much ship is necessary but we will built frigates of course, besides the corvettes, milgem project also includes frigates.
6) I don't think its a big deal as long as these training and tactics works.
8) for a better system, we'll see what will they use in milgem project.

1) Turkish Army isn't there to satisfy your fantasies.

I think one of the challenges we face is that the conscripts are not as well equipped as the professional army, and that's why we're going towards increasing the size of the professional army. However it's not an excuse to not arm them with bodyarmor and helmet. They should all look the same, if PKK or the enemy can see that the soldiers coming marching up the hill are conscripts they won't turn tail and run, they'll think, "hm... nice cannon fodder". Functionality is important, but camoflage and other gadget may help give the enemy the wrong impression, enough to make them hessitate.

The Terrorist's of PKK are born with AK's near them. A turkish soldier however might of have shot few times when training, before coming to there base.

They are better trained than our soldiers. We need a larger profesional army.

we should give the conscipt concept a big change
