Missiles to protect major Indian cities

I don't think we can buy any missile with a range >300 KM. We should buy some off the self very long range (~300 KM) SAM from russia and make anti-cruise SAM as a JV either with israel or russia. But I think we can enhance PAD/AAD as a anti-cruise missile too.

1) Its not just 300 km but with 500 kg payload. I am sure the payload of a SAM is not aroung 500 kg. We can buy S-500.

2) PAD cannot be used against cruise missiles and AAD can but need minor modifications and radars.

We seriously need something like S-500 for extended air defence.

S-500 is a ultra long range SAM which can destroy fighters, cruise missiles and TBMs. It said to be has a range of ~500 km and an altitude of 30 km. Pls, don't confuse it with PAD or AAD.

We can compare it with Barak-8.
