BHUBANESWAR: India Monday postponed the test of its nuclear-capable intermediate range Agni II missile from a test range in Orissa due to a technical snag, official sources said.

"Launch of Agni II mission is postponed due to a technical snag," a senior defence official told IANS.

The surface-to-surface missile with a range of over 2,000 km was scheduled to be launched Monday by army personnel as part of a training exercise from Wheeler's Island in Bhadrak district, about 200 km from here.

And Put more Emphasis on improved versions of A-3 and on A-5 and A-6.

you can not use agni-3 when range is abut agni-2 dear every missile has its own job .SRBM MRBM every type has own job .its not mean we have long range so we scrap medium range and short range missiles .

We have much lighter missile shaurya with 700 to 800 Km Range then wat is the need of A-1 ( 1000 Km Range).
and A-3 can be toned down to range of A-2. Then why stick to to particular design if there are troubles even in its user Trials.

Shaurya missile was designed specifically to be fired from submarines,although it is also a cannister launched missile. Agni is specifically land based. 300 kms does make a big difference in location of silos for the missiles and having certain targets in range.

DRDO is really dump research organization...we should follow the american method of developing weapons...giving the contract to private compnies....like i want to give an example..NIC is a govt. software company...lok @ the websites created by nic...Welcome to the Official Website of NIC - Andhra Pradesh State Unit, Hyderabad...totally crap no business logic...even 10th grade group of student can make batter than this....

So, its better the development should be hand over to private compnies

Wrong It was Sagarika which was developed as SLBM
