The Ukrainian government has received a delegation of senior military officials from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, headed by the Saudi Assistant Defense Minister, Lieutenant-General Muhammad bin Abdullah Al-Ayesh, who is one of the Kingdom's senior military personnel.

The meeting took place as part of the expansion of military-technical cooperation between the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and the Ministry of Defense of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Ukraine and Saudi Arabia will expand international defense cooperation. The agreement was reached during joint working meetings between the two official delegations of the Defense Ministries and the Office of the Military Attache in Saudi Arabia with representatives of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense and Ukroboronprom Group of Companies.

An agreement to expand cooperation was signed on February 5, 2020 between Assistant Minister of Defense Lieutenant-General Muhammad Al-Ayesh and Minister of Defense of Ukraine Andrey Zagorodnyuk.

Also, as part of the visit to the territory of the Antonov State Corporation, a display of promising serial weapons was organized, which was organized by private exporters from Ukroboronprom - GP SVTF Progress and GP GVVP Spetstekhnoexport.

The companies presented to the delegations from the Ministry of Defense of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia the latest developments in the field of unmanned aerial vehicles and their means of combating them, radar and electronic warfare systems, Antonov transport aircraft, armored cars, small arms, as well as the development of the State Design Committee Luch Bureau, In particular, the RK-360MT missile system "Neptune" and the "Alder" system, high-precision missiles RK-10, ATGM "Stugna" and "Corsair".

At the same time, due to the increased interest of the delegation of Saudi Arabia in the Neptune and Alder missile systems, the government commission of the Luch Design Bureau, the Raybird-3 Skyeton UAV, presented the Iskra 80K6 family of radars and electronic warfare systems.

The signing of the agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on cooperation in the defense sector and the launch of new and joint projects in various fields of cooperation.

The agreement provides new opportunities for military-technical cooperation and allows the expansion of cooperation between the two countries in the field of defense and in such fields as the defense industry, information technology, education and military medicine.

The Neptune complex includes six USPU-360 launchers with 24 R-360 cruise missiles. The R-360 missile weighs 870 kg; warhead weight 150 kg; Its launch range is 280 km and its speed is about 900 km / h. It is able to climb from 3 m to 10 m above the surface. The complex can simultaneously fire up to 24 missiles, that is, a full launch from 6 launchers, with a launch interval in a volley of 3-5 seconds.

Kilchen long-range anti-aircraft complex air defense missile system

The standard composition of the Kilchen air defense system provides for the use of several radars and command posts, and also includes six combat vehicles with four missiles each. The complex will be able to deal with aerodynamic and ballistic targets. The possibility of simultaneous shelling of 16 aerodynamic targets with the guidance of two missiles at each is declared. It is also possible to attack 12 targets, incl. 6 ballistic. Each ballistic object can be simultaneously attacked by 4 missiles.

The Kilchen project offers several interesting ideas in the field of defense organization and management. It is proposed to use the principles of network centricity and automatic equipment with the possibility of self-learning. First of all, this will reduce the load on the calculation and increase the performance of all system components.

The concept of a "werewolf system" is proposed. The air defense system should not have a constant composition and structure. It is proposed to change them in accordance with the current tasks and needs of the air defense. First of all, this will be implemented by changing the number of launchers on duty under the control of one command post.

The control loops of the system are built using “real” command posts and cloud technologies. The authors of the project believe that such a control system will be distinguished by increased stability: it cannot be disabled by traditional methods.

The complex is able to hit all types of air targets: UAVs, helicopters, aircraft, and other aerodynamic targets. Also declared the possibility of destruction of cruise and ballistic missiles. It is especially emphasized that the complex will be able to deal not only with air targets, but also hit ground and radio-contrast surface targets.

The missile basis of the complex is a guided missile of the high-precision "Alder", which has a flight range of more than 100 km, that will be modified and specially converted for the destruction of air targets.

Raybird-3 is a man-portable long-range unmanned aerial system (UAS) ..The UAS can carry out a range of operations including real-time aerial video surveillance, photography, and other applications. It can also be used in support of operational-tactical tasks.

The fuselage of Raybird-3 is made up of graphite, kevlar and other composite layers. The man-portable unmanned vehicle’s modular design offers the flexibility to add or remove onboard equipment, based on mission requirement. The UAS has an overall length of 1.83m, height of 0.32m, wingspan of 3m and wing area of 0.9m². It can operate in different weather conditions with temperatures ranging between -20°C and +45°C.

The aerial vehicle can be controlled by an automatic programme or it can be operated remotely from the ground control station. It performs autonomous operations on a programmed flight route and returns automatically to the initial point.

The unmanned system features encrypted digital data link which provides third-party interference protection. It can be assembled and launched within 15 minutes using a mechanised catapult. The fixed-wing UAS can be recovered using a parachute or airbag, upon the completion of the mission.

The cruise speed and maximum speed of the unmanned vehicle are 120km/h and 160km/h, respectively, while the range is 240km in the direct control mode.

The maximum take-off weight (MTOW) of the aircraft is 20kg. Raybird-2 has a maximum flight altitude of 3,000m and can operate for more than 24 hours.

The unmanned aircraft is fitted with mufflers to be undetectable when flying at altitudes of 400m and above. The remote-controlled optics allow the UAS to detect targets 10km away and transfer real-time video from a distance of 100km.

The drone is able to carry four missiles and stay in the air for up to five hours with altitudes up to 10-12 km, as well as have a combat range of up to 150 km and carry up to 300 kg of payload.

It is considered one of the most powerful in the world in its class.. The system is capable of hitting targets of any type at a distance of 120 km. MLRS launches 12 missiles in 45 seconds, all missiles hit the target with a maximum deviation of "all 30 meters." Alder rocket caliber 300 mm, weight 800 kg.

The hallmark of a 300-mm guided rockets of "Alder" is the presence of a unique system of governance based on 75 radial gas dynamic engine torque control, five "zones" which are placed ahead of the center of mass of the projectile and filigree precisely controlled by a powerful OBC in the composition of the inertial navigation system of the projectile. It is well known that such a design solution has found its application in gas-dynamic control system of the American missile MIM-104F PAC-3MSE complexes "Patriot PAC-3MSE". Therefore, one of the key suppliers of critical technologies for the formation of "Alder" can safely be considered the headquarters of "Raytheon".

The target detection radius of the Mineral-U radar should be 500-600 kilometers. He is also capable of giving target designation to weapons. The new technique uses active and passive channels.

It is assumed that with the help of the radar it will be possible to aim the Ukrainian coastal anti-ship complex "Neptune" at ships.

Despite the fact that having ultrasonic ICD rocket, "Lightning" under any sauce may not be included in the list of hypersonic means of aerospace attack, confident of achieving speed range 3.5—4M can turn it into quite a formidable tool to overcome the "missile umbrella". Moreover, the presence of a rocket-ramjet engine implies the preservation of the above-mentioned range of speeds, and hence, the maneuvering qualities, even on a terminal portion of the trajectory due to the presence of a computerized system controlling the solid-fuel charge in the combustion chamber of an integral rocket-ramjet engine.
