No man i not agree with you . I 100 percent tell the fault was with planes. For eg; mig 29 entered service in 1984 . In the 26 years of service out of 66 aircraft only 5 crashes.same goes to mirage only 5 crashes . You know this is enormous safety record.

I totally agree with you. it doesn't make sense when Mig 29 has a much lower ratio of down planes per year and he blame it on pilots.

IAF should really look at maintenance of its Aircrafts......Some Airmen on the ground should be investigated seriously.....

Any confirm news on the pilot...???

It must be noted according to the news piece that was posted here that the plane seems to have broken up in mid air as pieces fell on the huts in the village.

This to me suggests either there was a structural damage or the plane must have gone into a spiral (which can be due to multiple causes).

However the recent crash of MIG27 and now this, suggests something obviously is not right with this plane, in any scenario it is always easy to blame the pilots but hopefully a through investigation will be conducted. Since the pilot bailed out successfully this may be solved easily.

Before people start picking on "pilot error" and "Russian Planes", let me remind you the biggest culprit is our own policies which always lacks fore sight. Sad plight!!!!

If Tejas or the MMRCA deal was fast tracked even by a year...we would not have seen such sad events ...

No what he says is right. but it did't for mig 27 but for mig 21

I want to be honest about this, the USA cant keep the Russia Planes flying either.

During the Cold War, the U.S. had several dozen Russian aircraft they used for training their fighter pilots. Despite energetic efforts to keep these aircraft flying, their accident rate was 100 per 100,000 flying hours. That's very high by U.S. standards. The F-22 has an accident rate is about 6 per 100,000 hours, mainly because it's new. F-15s and F-16s have an accident rate of 3-4 per 100,000 flight hours.

Please a plane crashed and one poor villager lost his life, the fault is with the training. India needs good trainers, Rafale or F22 or PAKFA or any other strong sounding will not make it easier.

Some one please tell those dumb policy makers in South Block to get the best trainers the world can offer.

And yes its not a Rugby match between Russia or USA, human error due to poor training can occur on any plane.

I am not a technical Guy, but could some one tell me how vintage cars don't go around crashing into the hedges, or their bonnets don't fall apart??

Damn our corrupt government!:angry: I wish this corrupt system changes sometime. How many of our sons have to die for the greed of these @#$%^ politicians? I say AK Anthony should resign and there should be 3 tri-services (one from each branch, active service fighter pilot for the IAF guy) jointly managing the ministry. Anthony's a bane with his terrible mis-management.

We've got one of the most embarrassing crash rates in the world: why? ---Because the world's 4th largest air force doesn't have enough trainers!! oh wow what a justifiable excuse! So much for our members who worship every step of this stupid government.

Since when did the US crash 100 Soviet planes? Or even have 100 to crash in the first place? BTW tell me did the US have spare parts and technicians properly trained for those Soviet aircraft? I would like a source for your claim.

Well I can tell you right now its anothe Pilot Error.

Heres how the investigation will work.

The Manfacture allways partispates in these investigation since they designed the airplane.

Phone Call: India Admiral to Russian General Putin Jerkoff.

Indian Admiral: We had another one of you damm planes crash.
Russian General: Pilot Error
Indian Admiral: How do you figure that you have not even looked at the crash.
Russian General. Well look at it this way if its the Migs fault I am out of a job or maybe shot and India is going to have to ground its air force and you are out of a job.

Indian Admiral: Well when you look at it that way it has to be Pilot Error.

Look at the per years crashes for both the US and Soviet aircraft, early on they crash at much higher rates. If you like i can post year by year crashes for the F-16 so you can see for yourself that older aircraft crash more. Same with the Mig-29, it had a number of crashes early on.

And the Mig-21 had its first flight in 1955 but that doesn't stop you from singling it out. And i find it comical that you brought up fairness.

BTW i want that sourse that says the US has 100 crashes out of 100,000 hr flow in Soviet aircraft.

India's Mig-21 and Mig-27 crash for a number of reasons.

For the Main part, many of these planes have gone past their service life and spares hard to come by.

IAF has high flying hours for all their pilots , meaning these planes fly very many sorties.

Many rookie IAF pilots often go from the Sub-sonic trainer aircraft to the Supersonic Mig-21. While they get the best possible preparation . Flying the ageing mig-21 can sometimes prove too much. The older systems on-board , despite upgrades still remain , require far more pilot interaction and concentration to operate leaving a far greater room for error .

Pilots flying Mirage , Jaguar , Su-30 or Mig-29 , have very little of the same incidents , this is because these planes are generally in better nick. But also are easier for the modern fighter pilot to operate. They are also far more serviceable.

The crash rate was 100 per 100,000 hours of flying. It does not mean that US had a 100 planes,, but we had enough of them for training purpose.
