New Delhi: An Indian Air Force MiG-21 combat jet crashed soon after take-off from Bagdora in West Bengal on Friday but the pilot ejected to safety, an IAF spokesman said.

'The aircraft crashed around 3 p.m. soon after take-off and the pilot, Squadron Leader Rahul Tiwari, ejected safely,' the spokesman added.

Should be phased out soon and the new 126 jet should be inducted soon to save life of our skilled pilots

I don't think it is the fault of the aircraft. A lot of air forces operate it and they are only crashing this frequently in the IAF. India should improve the maintenance of its old birds.

no problim poilet is safe abut mig you should be happy one more mig down without any humen lose.

anways ... i think all migs 21 (non bisons) should be grounded immediately ..... i dont understand ...1 Mki went down they grounded the fleet y dont they ground the migs ...
and ... the sweet tym the IAF has taken fir mmrca ... we should start the process for the next aquisition of aircrafts right now ...maybe hen we'll get then at a time they are needed ....
i dont care if our squadren strenght falls ..... loosing pilots should not be allowed ... it actually might stop ppl from joinin IAF ... man 2 crshes in a week .....

I also have my doubts if they are tactfully crashing the jets to bring in urgency into the government. But this argument will stand only if the pilot survives.

Wasnt a mig 27 crashed just few days ago..and now this?Even PAF operates Mig21..but it does not have that kind of crashes.

Good question, would be interesting to know which batches has the main problems. Does anybody know how many Mig 21 Bisons crashed?
