MIG 21 crash!

two crashes in a week is absolutly unacceptable...
IAF is supposed to a world class Air Force....
if these planes are past their expiry dates and their airframes are not worth it ...
y keep them because in peace time a single plane might to 1-2 max (im guessing)sorties in a week but ....but if hostilites broke out then these same planes might need to do more than 5-10 sorties a day will the airframe last then because hostilies have broken out.So they are useless anyways

Again if they are not retiring them because of fall in squadren strengh ...guys tell me one thing ...these planes might not be at all useful duing hostilies .. and therefore we are wasting precious resources maintaining them when they have no use ..

I personally believe double impetuous has to be given to LCA we need it and we need it real bad ....
my two cents .......:coffee:

These birds are not that useless. Yes, we hear frequent crashes, what we dont hear is how many hour that bird has flown before crashing. One of the major reason is (AFAIK) that we dont have any supersonic trainer. Besides, remember cope-05? The bisons are real mean bird in war.

IAF cares for the pilot, but there is some inherited risk in flying. Especially if you are flying faster than sound, in a machine that is older than you...

Some times I feel surpricing, that in NDA govt time, we used to listen to frequent crashes, so much that mig 21s earned a nickname - flying coffins. We still do, but the frequency has fallen greatly. Whats up with that!!!

yaar wesy kitny baki hai mig-21.khataam hi nhi ho rahy .

It will definitely end when the MMRCA arrives. India won't even have to phase out Mig-21 as they will crash anyways. I think till the time our Pilots are safe, it is acceptable to me, personally.

Mig-21 is a fine Aircraft. It's a lot faster than Tejas & Thunder. Even Chinese latest F-7PGs, is slower. It's a fighter essentially built for interception and speed, with limited Dogfighting capabilities. There was problem before due to lack of spares due to USSR's disintegration, but wait for the investigation of this crash to get over before assuming stuff. The latest Mig-21Bis is only 23 years old. Lot of time time in the Airframe. Don't get swayed by bullshit Indian media which creates catchy headlines to line their own pockets.

IAF, which operates lots of foreign aircraft with lots of flying hours as well as a military which has to submit every report to CAG and RTI, is unique. Just because you don't hear about crashes in other countries, doesn't mean it ain't happening.

speed ok then we have to bring back f-104 was 2,125 km/h speedy then many modren jets

.
If the migs continued to betray the IAF pilots there will be a time when all mig-21s will be gone before there is any aircraft to replace them:and there will not be even a couple of IAF mig21s to preserve and show on display for future generations to see the flying coffins which used to terrorized the indian pilots. :smokin:

Do not be disappointed

May be one or two Mig-21 might not be able to fly because their engine broke down just before take off :D

Except, F-104 with it's high wing loading cannot ever dogfight properly. With Mig-21 you can do that because of lower wing loading. Also, F-104 takes a lot time to climb for interception after scrambling compared to Mig-21. With Mig-21, it can blast off like a rocket leaving behind fighters like Tejas and JF-17 to eat dust. It's thrust to weight ratio is higher than JF-17, Tejas, & F-7PGs or even maybe slightly better than F-16 with it comes to scrambling with it's full emergency power!!! This is because of it's very unique engines which gives emergency power during climb from low altitude to high altitude. JF-17, LCA are just jack of all trades master of none. They don't even come close to Mig-21Bis for effective point defense interception. It's no surprise that Mig-21s are not only useful today after 50 years, it is also holds the title of the world most mass produced supersonic fighter!!!!
It's funny you know, just last week I was watching Discovery, and they were talking about top 10 fighter planes in the world, and I though since it was an American program, there is no way any soviet fighters would make it there. But guess who turned up in 3rd place? ;) That was the only soviet fighter in the list.

If you want to know how Indian pilots think of their Mig-21s, then all you need to do is ask them. Mig-21 pilots love their plane. I saw them on a recruitment campaign trying to put the point across to people that "Don't watch Rang de basanti & don't believe the journalists".

-------

MiG-21bis (izd. 75/75A/75B) Tumanskiy R-25-300 40.2/69.6 (97.1*) 9040/15650 (21825*)
* = limited (3-minute) "extra-power" reheat at altitudes 4000m (13,120 ft) or less.

That's the emergency engine thrust for a fighter which is 2500 pounds lighter than Tejas or Thunder!! So image the thrust to weight ratio it would have.

:no:I am not questioning the indian pilots love affair with MIG21 ;all i am saying is it looks a one sided love affair and the migs are continuously betraying them in the end.Better give them something else to love.

Guess again.
Well if it's third on the list it should be mig 20.5 because mig21 is the best ,and indian pilots really love it when it gets out of control and talks dirty and the ejection seat wow..........
and mig21 was not on the top of the list; surely that's an American program you know people are jealous these days .:secret:

^lol. Mig-21 has clocked more flight hours than any other type of fighter plane in entire IAFs history. When you take a type fighter for a spin longer, the chances of an accident is naturally higher. What you are saying is the same inane logic the west uses nowadays- When Muslims bomb places often, all Muslims are terrorists! When Mig-21 crashes, all Mig-21s are crap. The world is a strange place.
