Mi 17 crashed in Tarbela

The incident in point did not result due to a 'crash' but due to a collapse of the landing gear, a spontaneous event brought on by sheer bad luck but that is more common in the aviation industry than many people outside of the world of aircraft can acknowledge.

Completely baseless. I actually work in an aerospace industry and it is one of the safest industry in the world and THE SAFEST mode of transportation ever. You are more likely to be hit by a car while crossing a road than you are to become a fatality in a crash.

I think many members raise a valid point of Mi17s flying past their airworthiness and/or their notorious unreliability. Look at Eurocopters? Possibly 1 or 2 accidents till date. Forget about Eurocopter looka at French Super Frelon with an older airframe than Mi-17, no accident that I can remember. I've lost the count of Mi-17s or Mig-21 crashes and accidents that were not subject to human errors.

I didn't say that helicopter crashes are common, I said the collapse of a landing gear is a more common event than most people seem to think.
