Metro creates Traffic jams in Lahore !

.
sarko per ****** hona tou ab ham Lahoriyo ka roz ka mamol hai...

Still unfinished. Service roads, some steel structure work have not been complete and signals have not been added in major intersections i.e. Azadi Chowk.

BTW do you know 120,000-150,000 people are travelling daily ? Before launching the project, the impression was not more than 60-70,000 people would use it. Suddenly the government have decided to buy more Buses. :)

excuses, these projects are to facilitate not create havoc..

even if 20 lac people travel daily, it still doesnot cover the running cost of this project...

yes I do agree that public money getting out of these haramkhor's pocket is a plus.

. .
since this project was done with Public money, the public has 1000% right to criticize even the color of the buses. In a civilized country a project like this take 3-5 years for a feasibility study and another 10 years to construct. Yet somehow, nura league managed to take it from zero to running in about a years time.
Just to give you guys an Idea, for the winter Olympics in Vancouver, the city had to build a new subway and it already had a feasibility study done back in 2001 when they applied for the Olympics, and it took them almost 10 years to construct the system. Vancouver is only about 2 million people yet it has 3 subway lines. Lahore has more than 10 million and it can't even make a proper bus system. Pathetic.

This Metro system is just one big joke that is done to the public by Nura league and payed for by the public.
Once they get kicked out, the new government should audit all their finances and any money that they have not declared needs to be confiscated and used to pay for this mess.

Lahoris break fast on the roads as Chinese Vice President visits city

LAHORE: A large number of citizens were left stranded on the roads at Iftar time and had no option but to break their fasts in their respective vehicles with water and titbits available nearby due to roadblocks caused by Chinese Vice-President Wang Qishan’s visit to the provincial capital on Monday.

Lahoris vehemently criticised the Punjab government for the ill-planned traffic arrangements, including the blocking of major and link roads of several areas of the city, that limited movement of vehicular traffic.

There was no option but to abandon plans and return home,” said journalist Zaman Khan, who reached his office three hours late due to the traffic gridlock.

“Who is responsible for my salary deduction now? I want answers,” he lamented.

Although a public holiday was announced a day prior to the Chinese VP’s visit to the provincial capital, no announcement of roadblocks was made and neither was a traffic plan for alternative routes provided.

Interestingly, some areas of Defence and Cantt were forcibly closed by the police.

Vice-President Qishan had arrived in Islamabad on May 26 on a three-day official visit. His visit is expected to reinforce bilateral ties and add momentum to the growing cooperation between the brotherly countries in multiple fields.

The Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson had said that Qishan’s visit to Pakistan would further deepen high-level exchanges, friendship and mutual trust between the two countries and advance the development of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), besides bilateral cooperation across the board.
