Mental Health is such a vast subject...and disorders are for obvious reasons growing... the growing pressures of existence in a post-modern world ...it is impact in inter human relationships of last decades... social engineering to cope with byproducts of dismantled
FamilySystem... on and on...
In the context of Pakistan... there is inherent resilence of Paks... which is quite legendary..given what has Pakistan been through and still going through...
Sociological changes that are happening...combined with technology... the
fundamental value system is changing...
TikTokNation is slowly taking shape...
RahimKhan is but a tiny example...
for what is lurking under the surface...
However, it is
Vital to Define What is Mental Health to start with before diving in providing care/treatement.
Fundamentallly,
Individuality is a
NeuroticPersonality... it has to be...otherwise, individuals cann't exit.
The Paradox emerges when we see that there is rather an overal group behaviour and the tiny likes/dislike are not
that Individual rather product of condition and exposure.... this brings us to the question of
Personality.
What is Personality?
Canablism of Paupa NewGineau might shock us..but since it was norm...
so nobody there felt any trauma... cosying up in their TreeNests... indulging in........
What is mostly overlooked in mental health treatment is overall E
ndocrime System and its performance... thus taking mental issues as stand alone... whereas we know full well that hormones play havick on mental health from moods to performance...
Also it is imperative to understand that certain gene types produce certain mental compositions... dark subject... so putting a stop here!
Climatic conditions are another element determing behaviour and consequent mental health...
Although Coffee gives a dompamine boost but it also drains magnesium from body..same as alchohol....
just to examplify a point!
A balanced diet versus unbalanced one... can change the
BrainChemisty... especially intake of quality vs dangerous fats...
Genders produce there own particular brain chemistries...suited to survive... formed over last 100000 years... nothing politically incorrect to see it from pure brain chemistry...
In fact with the decline in hormones and slowing down of protein synethesis ...we come to differences in brain chemistry...producing its own set of mental performance and disorders... effecting mental health...
Too much dopamine creates risk taking as too much serotonin produces sluggish outlook...
There is considerable research on
AminoAcids as replacement for pharma for mental health treatment...
the magic word is Balance...
If we look at any given culture..it is a set of behaviours resulting from generational conditioning producing predictible anchor points... for both pain and pleasure... which are like and dislikes in another elementary form...
It appears that mental health is not just depression or too much elevation in mood... go-getterz... it has far more facets and aspects..
Then it brings us to the minimum necessary quality of Mental Health to function in any given enviroment... in the warzones it has different qoutient than in downtown Stockholm...
I have not touched upon growing
Autism in industrialised world... which I tend to believe is a
mutation.. it has always been present in humanity but now the frequency of it has increased... this again has to deal with survivability of autists in western society..where they become engineers or scientists...enough studies available...
Perhaps it is safe to say that mental health solutions varry from society to society... given the 'culutral triggers/anchors' vary... though generalised medicine produces change in brain chamistery... with varrying effect in different ethnic groups...
Mental health in Pakistan is
not a tabboo it is rather in it infancy...given the overall healthcare is so imature...sacrace...
In the end it is the ability to function in any given environment...
from survial to thriving....
in between these two states exist 'individuals'....
