Nope,i actually read about it just on quora....so i posted about it,but does an old article not need repetition if it doesn't then why does every other day an article about kashmir opens,the same arguments presented or for that matter rapes in india.

I don't think those article are a year old like this one. All are based on current events.

I did try to read the article with an open mind however when I expect 'evidence' I do really expect 'evidence' & not hearsay therefore whereas I cannot deny that Hindu women are kidnapped & are forced to marry & convert for we've got a lot of messed up things in our society of late nor can I affirm it on the magnitude of what is asserted by the article nor the veiled reference therein of it being institutionalized !

On to Ms.Kumari - I was under the impression that her Grandfather was shot 'at' & not shot 'dead' either way the Prosecution wasn't able to link that to the case in hand & substantiate their claim. The Highest Court of Pakistan unfettered by any PPP politician as is alleged of the course that was taken during the lower courts carried out the due process of the law & gave the verdict.

Now if the HRCP or anyone else has any evidence to suggest that the Court proceedings were made Malafide or Ultra-Vires, they are & they were more than welcome contest it further through a new case.

Remember no where i am saying that due process of law wasn't followed...all i am saying is by threatening the victim,who due to the fear of her life retracted her statement.The state should have provided her security which it did not.Further where can she get material witness from.....any muslim who supports her will paint a big target for herself.Its very easy to say that due process was followed...the process in which on one side stood a lone girl raped and in fear....and on the other stood those reminding them of their status in an islamic country.

A court in Pakistan has ordered police to find a Hindu woman who was allegedly abducted and forced to marry her Muslim husband.

In a petition before the Karachi High Court, the family of Rinkle Kumari say that her abduction was supported by a powerful politician.

But her husband's friends say that she voluntarily left home in Sindh province and willingly converted to Islam.

Judges at the court said that Ms Kumari must be produced before them next week.

Human rights activists say that other reported abductions of members of minority communities in Pakistan, which is overwhelmingly Muslim, have not been properly investigated by the authorities.

In the most recent case, Hindu community leaders say that an oath Ms Kumari made in front of a court in her home town that she had freely got married and converted to Islam was made under duress.

They say that many others like her have been forcibly taken away by powerful politicians - some allied to the governing Pakistan People's Party (PPP).

The Hindu community has accused one of the party's MPs, Mian Abdul Haq, of supporting the abduction and the forced conversion.

But in an interview with the BBC he strenuously denied the allegations.

"I contacted her family when Rinkle came to me last month," he said.

"But they refused to respond - and then I was left with no choice but to convert her to Islam and get her married [according to] her will."

Ms Kumari's family say that she was kidnapped from her home on 24 February by Naveed Shah - who later married her.

They say that they have registered a police complaint against Mr Shah even though he appeared in court on 25 February with Ms Kumari, who made a statement before the magistrate that she had married him of her own free will.

The family and community leaders, however, say that the magistrate was under "a great deal of pressure" because hundreds of armed tribesmen loyal to Mr Haq were in the court premises.

Mr Haq said that his supporters would abide by the court ruling and that Ms Kumari would appear in court on 12 March.

I was led to understand that the State did indeed provide her security & even extended it to her parents & their community by assigning Rangers (a paramilitary force) to defend them ! She was, furthermore, sent to a care-center run by a distinguished Pakistani female lawyer & social worker, to ascertain whether she was being coerced into saying what she was saying & after due deliberations it was determined that she wasn't !

Any Muslim or Non Muslim for that matter that supports her would get police protection & even otherwise isn't likely to be threatened as was evidenced by most of our Liberals & some of our Conservatives supporting her quite vocally in the Media & still going about unfettered.

We often forget that the Court not only took up Ms.Kumari's case but also a petition from '07 whereby a blanket 'forced conversion' issue was raised & found the evidence to be far too lacking to condemn anyone; I would imagine that this Chief Justice who could ask for the Police to go into the Tribal Areas & bring back 3 alleged victims of stoning only to find all of them alive & healthy, has the nerve to look most in the eye & carry out the 'due process' of the law to determine whether this was an instance of forced conversion or not, especially if he had, in addition to the Liberals, countless Conservatives with many of them being Religious Clerics on his side of demanding justice & denouncing any forced conversion !

We can cast aspersions about this till our heart's content but unfortunately or fortunately this is what the Court decided & no one took the proper channels, except the occasional media tantrums, to challenge the Court's decision as malafide or ultravires ! Therefore in the absence of any evidence to suggest that Justice was not delivered I can't just condemn the court based on hearsay & gutt-feelings !
