ভোলা প্রতিনিধি : তিনি কি বাংলাদেশের সবচেয়ে লম্বা ব্যক্তি- এমন প্রশ্ন মোসলেউদ্দিনেরও। মোসলেউদ্দিন লালমোহন এলজিইডি অফিসের নৈশপ্রহরী। তার উচ্চতা ৭ ফুট ৭ ইঞ্চি। মাত্র দেড় ইঞ্চির জন্য তিনি গিনেজ ওয়ার্ল্ড বুকে নাম লেখাতে পারেননি।



তার বাড়ি ভোলা সদর উপজেলার চর সেমাইয়া গ্রামে। গত বছরের ২৬ নভেম্বর লালমোহন এলজিইডি অফিসের নৈশপ্রহরী হিসেবে যোগ দিয়েছেন মোসলেউদ্দিন। অফিসের সবাই তাকে সম্রাট নামে ডাকেন। তার জন্ম ১৯৭২ সালের ১৫ অক্টোবর ভোলা সদর উপজেলার ধনিয়ার ইউনিয়নে। তার বাবার নাম সামছুল হক বেপারী। মেঘনার ভাঙনে জমিজমা হারিয়ে ২০০৭ সালে তিনি মারা যান। তিন বোন, এক ভাইয়ের সংসারে মোসলেউদ্দিন সবার ছোট।



তার বাবা-মা দুজনে স্বাভাবিক উচ্চতার মানুষ ছিলেন। তবে শুনেছেন, তার নানা খুব লম্বা মানুষ ছিলেন। তাকে তিনি দেখেননি।



মোসলেউদ্দিন জানান, ১৫ বছর বয়সে হঠাৎ মনে হলো তিনি খুব লম্বা হয়ে যাচ্ছেন। তখন থেকে কয়েক বছরের মধ্যে তিনি হয়ে উঠেন অস্বাভাবিক রকমের লম্বা। ১৯৯৮ সালে সেনাবাহিনীতে চাকরি করার জন্য লাইনে দাঁড়ান তিনি। তখন উচ্চতা মেপে দেখা যায় ৬ ফুট সাড়ে ৭ ইঞ্চি। সেনাবাহিনীর চাকরিটা নিয়ে মনে খুব আশা ছিল মোসলেউদ্দিনের। শেষ পর্যন্ত অস্বাভাবিক উচ্চতার কারণে চাকরিটা হয়নি। মেডিক্যাল পরীক্ষায় আনফিট হয়েছেন।



তিনি আরো জানান, এলজিইডি অফিসের নির্বাহী প্রকৌশলীর কার্যালয়ে নৈশপ্রহরীর চাকরি পাওয়ার পর ২০০৪ সালে বিয়ে করেন। তাদের ঘরে দুই ছেলে জন্ম নেয়। তবে তাদের উচ্চতা এখনো পর্যন্ত স্বাভাবিক রয়েছে।



তার অস্বাভাবিক উচ্চতার কারণে ঘরে ঢুকতে বা কাজ করতে সমস্যা হয়। অফিসের দরজার চেয়েও ২ ইঞ্চি লম্বা তিনি। তাকে মাথা নিচু করে লোকজনের সঙ্গে কথা বলতে হয়। রাস্তায় হাঁটাচলার সময় মানুষ তার দিকে তাকিয়ে থাকে। এতে তার বরং ভালোই লাগে বলে তিনি জানান। তার শোয়ার জন্য বিশেষ একটি চৌকি বানানো হয়েছে। যেটি আট ফুটের বেশি লম্বা। তিনি আত্মীয়পরিজনের বাড়িতে বেড়াতে গেলেও রাত্রিযাপন করেন না।



মোসলেউদ্দিনের বড় সমস্যা শারীরিক দুর্বলতা, দুই হাঁটুতে ব্যথা। অভাব-অনাটনের সংসারে ঠিকমতো খাওয়াদাওয়া করতে পারেন না। তবে খুব খেতে ইচ্ছা করে তার। একেক বেলা দুই কেজি চালের ভাত নিমেষে সাবার করে ফেলতে পারেন। মাছ-মাংস দুটোই তার ভীষণ প্রিয়। তবে এখন রাতের বেলা রুটি খেতে পছন্দ করেন।



মোসলেউদ্দিন জানান, তার পায়ের মাপের জুতা বাজারে পাওয়া যায় না। অর্ডার দিয়ে বানাতে হয়। এক জোড়া জুতা বানাতে ৩ হাজার টাকা নেয় কারিগররা। অনেক সময় তারা বানিয়ে দিতে চায় না। শার্ট-প্যান্ট রেডিমেড কিনতে পারেন না। অর্ডার দিয়ে তৈরি করাতে হয়। দামি লুঙ্গি দৈর্ঘ্যে বেশি থাকে বলে মোটামুটি স্বচ্ছন্দে পরতে পারেন।



বাংলাদেশের বা বিশেষ কোনো দেশের সবচেয়ে লম্বা বা বেঁটে মানুষ সম্পর্কে আলাদা করে তথ্য নেই গিনেজ ওয়ার্ল্ড বুকে। গিনেজ ওয়ার্ল্ড অনুসারে পৃথিবীর জীবিতদের মধ্যে সবচেয়ে লম্বা ব্যক্তিটির উচ্চতা ৮ ফুট ৩ ইঞ্চি। এই লম্বা মানুষটি হলেন তুরস্কের সুলতান কোসেন। সবচেয়ে লম্বা নারী হলেন চীনের ইয়াও ডিফেন। তার উচ্চতা ৭ ফুট ৮ ইঞ্চি। আর সবচেয়ে লম্বা ১০ জনের মধ্যে দশম ব্যক্তিটি কোরিয়ান রি মিয়ংহুন। তার উচ্চতা ৭ ফুট সাড়ে ৮ ইঞ্চি। মোসলেউদ্দিনের উচ্চতা ৭ ফুট ৭ ইঞ্চি।

My class fellow suffering from same disease died at the age of 17 (6' 7" height). He misses every thing that we normal children do even face rude jokes and all. So Sad.

well i feel you were a bit harsh. anyway its not alway due to pituitary gland.i know a hand full of tall guys 3 who are 7ft+ and they dont have that tumor. but they have heart problems and chances are that i wont see them live past 50
