They couldn't work out the Su-57, so they've decided to move on to the next project.

It's truly fascinating that after all these years, the Russians still haven't been able to master the art of Engines.

One of theirs powers JF17
Yes, I'm well aware of that my good man.

I'm merely pointing out that the Powerplant currently being used on the JF-17 has been one of the most debated topics.

So much so, that some Members have suggested that PAF should now opt for the Chinese Engines.

But lets not drag the JF-17 into this discussion as it's just One Jet.

Russians are possibly 10-15 Years behind the West and that has been covered extensively in various news outlets.

I stand by my opinion...

I don't think there is anyone who'd buy the idea that any Russian Engine is better than GE, P&W or the ones being operated by Rafle/EFT.
I second that., I would even add Rolls Royce and Volvo in that list too.
call it my opinion or bias. but the performance and the experience speaks of the Western quality , craftsmanship , better design and reliability

Russina design philosophy is very different to western.
Sure the western engine TBO is much better and quality higher but if you look at how Russia weapons are designed their emphasis is on numbers and getting the job done.
Western design philosophy is different.
However that doesn't mean that the engines are no capable.

Ps I am having a little fun with our friend @Trailer23
