I thought media all over the world is controlled by a higher authority and in each country the higher authority is mostly the business oligarchs.I have long held the view that India's biggest mistake in recent times has been it's desire to emulate everything along the lines of USA. That our media has shaped up exactly like the enterprise that the American media is, is no coincidence. We should at least have had specific clauses in the Monopolies and Restrictive Trade Practices Act that would prevent ownership of the media by any Industrial or Political entity.
US and India would be just 2 examples.
But I am still glad that I live in a world where media has enough freedom.
I may or may not trust the big channels but I definitely trust the citizen journalists who have cropped up in every nook and corner of this world.
Not so long back media and ppl didnt enjoy such freedom. So yeah giving media the power and freedom came with its own pros and cons.
