Viet Nam needs more ground based ASM's, which would easily address any Chinese naval / coast guard nuisance. In fact, your country is so strategically located -- so that it can easily have command and control of the Western corridor of the SCS.

I think that in the future acquisitions, Japan should sell the following to Viet Nam at discounted rates.

Type 88 Anti Ship Missile Platform,

and,

Type 12 Anti Ship Missile Platform,

This will be the silencer of PLAN ships that dare enter Viet Namese waters.

Wonderful. Your surface fleet is enough for a defensive doctrine. Now, to augment the size of your fleet, is to acquire a deadly amount of ASM platforms. PLAN would not dare enter your maritime domain or be sunk to the bottom of the depths.

US arm embargo lifted means we could get weapons from many other sources like Japan, Spain, ... in public.
FYI, when we contacted EADS for CASA airplane few years ago, USA always remind EADS for their acknowledge of US embargo and must update to US the progress of our contract.
Now it's over soon later

What on earth are you talking about? It's nothing to do with US democracy. I only mentioned an article that say that Vietnam, even under one party socialism, could have achieved $7000 gdp per capita.

He said the lifting of the ban will be done gradually, depending on your progression under their condition (human rights or colour revolution?). Meaning, you'll probably only getting non lethal hardware first, like patrol crafts. They're not going to fully lift the ban if your country doesn't have a colour revolution.

Right now they are just teasing and tempting you with their sweet words.

They are waiting for your colour revolution first before they sell f16 or Poseidon.
