Than why don't we get those with TOT

Probably because the American ones are all battle tested & Pakistan needs them immediately. These vehicles are very costly, both in purchase price as well as to run & maintain. They only have their use in counter-insurgency operations and hopefully Pakistan is not planning to do that forever. Getting American MRAPS is a good idea, though the cost of the procurement -$ 198 million for 160 vehicles is stunning, to say the least. Chinese ones may be cheaper but if you are going to spend a large sum of money, it makes sense to get something that is tested & tried.

But as per the current report we are buying 160 Maxpro category unknown and probably mix of new and stored vehicles (number of stored vehicles unknown) at the cost $ 190 M or at average cost of $ 1.237 million

The costs may include supports and spare/life cycle costs too.

That is probably correct. I wasn't finding fault but was just stunned at how much these MRAPS cost. Especially considering that they are essentially troop carriers which will make no sense to use (because of running costs -humongous fuel bills) in areas where there is no danger. Not specific to the American vehicles (though they are likely to be costlier) just mulling over the costs

Actually there is some interesting information in the link you provided.

In contrast, Force Protection will collect $378 million for 178 of its Category I and 180 of its Category II MRAP vehicles combined.

That would put it closer to Pakistan's costing. Different vehicle but wondering whether it is all about the numbers, the order you mentioned was pretty huge. Other costs probably reduce.

includes cost of spares and the 24 contractors who will be posted for 18 months...this MRAPS are not cheap by any standards....the question is are these being purchased by own funds or FMS aid, most likely the latter.

US equipment is always the best. No doubt about it. My contact who was part of the selection process described the engineering of MRAP. It is a very good and thoughtful design. I doubt our Chinese friends would make something close to it in their first try.

Zarvi, please do differentiate between "of" (Urdu: ka/ki) and "off" (Urdu: band).

We should also go for "Husky TSV MRAPs".

Last year i heard,in HIT they had stripped down a South african MRAP for possible reverse engineering.
